Any Warner Bros. cartoon icons going digital?
Bugs Bunny and riends/both of the newer Superman and Batman series/ and namely the ever popular Scooby Doo classics. I hate it when you want to purchase titles like these, but you can't help but wonder if they're being released on DVD right around the corner. Has anyone heard about any of these going to DVD in the near future?
Thanks, much appreciated! And they're for my ah, kids....ah, not me...really... Rick |

Hm, that stuff is out on VHS and LD, isn't it...
It will eventually come out on DVD. Let's wait and eat some carrots... or click the carrot eating bugs bunny below to go to the official WB home video site ![]() ![]() ------------------ Unca Dom, DDS-088 dominikpfleghaar@netscape.net ------------------ People have one thing in common: they're all different. |

Winstar/Fox Lorber released a few DVDs of public domain animated titles, usually under the banner "Cartoon Crazys." IMO, they do a halfway decent job sprucing up the images on cartoons that are sometimes near sixty years old, especially considering there was no access to sourcel materials. I have "Cartoon Crazys Goes To War," which is either striaght propaganda, or just cartoons you've known and loved that just happened to have a war reference or two.
Most volumes of Cartoon Crazys have at least some WB titles on them (the exception being a DVD of the Fleischer's Superman titles). "Goes To War," even has the infamous "Gremlin" short, so I'd say it's mandatory if you care about the rabbit to pick it up. Two small caveat emptors: They include the original soundtrack, but they also try to recreate the soundtrack for 5.1 channel sound. The new sound effects leave a little to be desired; I usually watch with the original soundtrack Also, although the cartoons are public domain, the original studio logos aren't, so when you turn one on, you'll go right to the title of the cartoon, rather than see the WB logo while "The Merry Go Round Broke Down" plays in the background. A small price to pay for the Gremlin, though. ------------------ If He had the opportunity to get to know you first, maybe Jesus would not have died for your sins...think about it... |
