If you weren't an X-Fan, and saw X-Men 1.5 in a store, what would you think it was?

Just got Fox's new X-Men 1.5 DVD yesterday, and it stands up as an awesome disc. The only problem with it is the "1.5" labeling. In my extreme annoyance with the labeling, I wondered something and thought I'd ask.

If you were not an X-Fan and/or not fermilliar with the history of the so-called 1.5 version of the film, what would you think the DVD was if you happened to see it in stores?

Just wondering how confusing Fox's poor marketing has confused Average Joe.

I REALLY don't get why everyone is complaining. It's just a name for the special edition that's all. As for someone who isn't a fan? Read the back it doesn't say a thing about it being a new cut at all. Anyway, it's a great set with some of the best behind the scenes stuff I have seen in a long time.

I'm guessing there's some explanatory notes at the back of the case. And it really isn't the hardest concept to grasp when it comes down to it.

I guesse I would think it was just a new version of the DVD or the movie. I don't know what I would think because I all ready know what it is so it's hard to make the call...

If I just saw the cover that said "X-Men 1.5" I would've thought it was a new movie. If I read the back of the cover I would've known that it was just a SE of the original "X-Men".

When they couldn't get the new cut, they should have retitled it "X-Men: 1.5/.5"

I would think it was a new cut of the first film, but I'd buy it anyway, no matter what it was...

I would think it was a cheesey direct-to-video sequel with different voice actors and none of the charm of the original movie. Oh wait, that's a Disney DVD.

I guess I fit in the 'X-Fan' catergory, and if I hadn't known what this was before seeing it I probably would've thought it was a new cut of the film.

Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock for the last five years knows of this 'add a fraction to the old number and... voila, something new' craze so no one should think it's an entirely new movie.

They haven't filmed X3 yet. In fact, I don't believe they have even officially announced an X3. However, if X2 does good business, then I would not be suprised to learn that X3 is on its way for 2005 or 6.

As for the topic at hand, I'm not sure what I would have thought the 1.5 was all about. First reaction would have been probably for me to believe it was a special edition.

I would be thoroughly confused until I read the back cover, which hopefully would clear it up.

I would think it was a cheap knock off. Kinda like how you can go to the store and find "Snow White" really cheap, only look at it and realize that the Snow White is really made by some no-name company, and not the "Disney's Snow White" that you normally associate with it.

I know we have all run into confusion of this before.

Now, do I get an award for strangest comparison between movies? I mean comparing Xmen to Snow White, that has got to be far fetched!!

Provided I still knew about DVD's in general and the double-dipping "practice" I would just assume special edition re-release. I would not assume anything about the cut.

I would have thought it was what is was supposed to be...a new special edition cut of the movie. Of course, I would have picked it up and read the back and noticed no mention of that.

Even though I keep up with the DVD releases and such, it's not hard for the average Joe to look something up. If they wonder, then look for the answers. They are available. Anybody who doesn't bother to try to find the answer and just assumes or guesses deserves what they get!
