Which of these Oscar-nominated animated films should I rent tonight?

I haven't seen any. The only film in the competition I've seen is Spirited Away which I do recommend.

I'm leaning toward Spirit, but I'm not sure...maybe Lilo looks interesting, but Ice Age looks to have cool animation.

I'll be leaving for the store in 1 hour, so help me out please!!!! I want to watch a cartoon tonight.

Of those, I've seen Spirit and Lilo & Stitch, both of which are exellent movies and both worthy of the award. I voted for Lilo & Stitch, but Spirit is great too and you should rent them both. I'm glad to own them and watch them both frequently. These, as well as Treasure Planet and I'm sure Ice Age and Spirited Away (though I haven't seen them yet), showcase the true magic and devine art of animation, and, after a few disappointments in recent years, these reminded me why I fell in love with animation in the first place. I highly suggest renting both tonight, or if not both at least rent the one you decide against when you return the one you decide on.

Spirit is more of an epic action-oriented journey "there and back again," while Lilo & Stitch is an Hawaiian/animated reverse E.T. with a "buddy comedy" flare.

So basically it comes down to what you want to watch: Do you want to see some of the most rousing action in animation or are you in the mood for a story of a family's coming together and the personal redemption of two of the most adorable and loveable characters in animation history? Both are great; you can't go wrong either way. I can't speak for Ice Age, but it looks great, too.

If you've seen other animated films in recent years, then you've already seen Ice Age. In my opinion, it's an uninspired blend of Dinosaur, Monsters Inc., Shrek, and several others. The animation is really, really poor and it lacks even a single speck of creativity.

So, I recommend Lilo & Stitch, but I haven't yet seen Spirit myself.

I'd say "Ice Age" because I have not seen either one of the movies and do not really want to see the other two. I like "Ice Age" I think it's got good animation and it's voice cast is defintly funny. So I'd say "Ice Age" but like I said I've not seen either of those other two movies.

Lilo's winning. I might give it a try.

I haven't seen Spirit, but Lilo & Stitch is excellent, and Ice Age is certainly entertaining.

I haven't seen "Spirit," but I found "Ice Age" stale. And the animation's not all that spectacular, really.
"Lilo & Stitch," on the other hand, I've watched several times and just love it more and more.
Guess what I voted for?

out of the three, Spirit is BY FAR the best. I didn't enjoy Lilo & Stitch (and yes, I LOVE cartoons aimed at kids...i just didn't like this one). Ice Age is FOX playing catch up with PDI and Pixar...worth renting (like any animated film), but forgettable.

Spirit is a great story, not perfect, but well worth renting, if not owning.

-Lilo & Stitch: A- (funny, beautifully animated and full of heart. A gem)

-Ice Age: B+ (yeah, it's the screenplays of Shrek and Monsters Inc. smashed together, but the animation is excellent, and the Looney Toons-esque slapstick is inspired)

-Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimmaron: B- (looks great, less filling. Pocahontas meets The Black Stallion)

Spirited Away is easily the best of the bunch but Lilo and Stitch is very well done. The water colours were nice to see and the writing is consustently Disney. Spirit is also very good. Not a Disney talking animals movie which is a welcome chnage sometimes. My only quam was Matt Damon's narration. Well perfectly fine it didn't say anything that wasn't apparent in the animation and as such seemed redundant to me. Although an animated movie without dialogue might not have been a big hit. Ice Age is reasonably funny, probably worth a rental, but nothing anyone will miss if they don't see it.

ending up renting Tadpole instead...I'll get around to these, but I've been putting them off for some time. I didn't realize Swept Away was out already...there's a film I'm looking forward to for all the wrong reasons. I might enjoy it. It looks like good trash. Weird project for Ritchie.

On the contrary... whatever you may think of the story, the animating in Ice Age is outstanding. Easily the equal of Pixar.

I found Ice Age more entertaining than Lilo and Stitch. Either way, between those 2, you can't loose.

If you get around to renting one of those animated films, here's a reminder: don't get Spirit unless the box says "WIDESCREEN" at the bottom. (The pan and scan version has nothing on the front to indicate it's chopped).

You probably already know that though.

All three are very good.

Ice Age is the funniest and has the best animation. Despite the annoying fact that the snow never sticks to there fur. It has alot of wierd prehistoric creatures but thankfully has no dinosaurs. Since there were none 20,000 years ago. It is very funny my favorite part is when Diago tries to entertain the baby. Still it suffers from lack of originality. The relationship between Manny and Sid was very much like Shrek and Donkey. Also them finding a human baby and trying to "put that kid back where it came from or so help me." was very much like Monsters Inc. Still a very entertaining movie. B+

Spirit is the best as far as moral value and music. It surprised me that the animals don't talk so it had very good pantmiming. It captures the spirit of the west and freedom very well. Still I didn't like the fact that in the movie all of the white people are the bad guys and all the Native Americans were the good guys. Being a white person I found that offensive. If it had at least one good white guy I would probably give it an B. Still it is good in most other ways. B-

Lilo and Stitch is the best of the three in originality and action. I loved the movies science fictiony feel and the fact that it dealed with genetic enginnering in a funny way. Stitch is a very enjoyable charactor. It is fun to see how Stitch starts off bad and slowly becomes good. Still I didn't like the fact that Jumba and Pinckly were able to disgues themselves in such easy to tell outfits and go unnoticed. Also it has the worst animation of the three. Still it is a funny and enjoyable movie and I can't wait for the sequal. B+
