Is Lawrence of Arabia 2 Disc set going OOP?

This is a title I have been meaning to pick up for a while but haven't since its tends to be a little pricey. If the 2 disc set is being dropped in favor of the cheaper single-disc then I guess I need to pick it up while you can still find copies around. I don't want this to pass me by like the Patton SE did.

The two-disc set went OOP last summer, I believe in August. But look around and you should be able to find it. I got mine at a Super Target, of all places, for about $25. Good luck.

Sony/Columbia seems to have picked up the cost-cutting bug from Fox. Lawrence of Arabia, Close Encounters, and a few others have already gone from two-disc to one-disc versions. Get the two-disc sets while you can.

I've got the two disc set, and something I'm curious about, is how the transfer is on the one disc? That's alot to pack onto one disc. I can't imagine it looking really good. I'm just happy I picked up the 2 disc one when I did.

I picked up the last copy on the shelf this afternoon at Best Buy. It stickered for $34.99 but by the time I cashed in a 10% coupon and what was left on a gift card I was only out of pocket about $12.

Sean, I don't think they're packing all the material from the two-disc set onto the single disc. Instead, I think they're just dropping the second disc. This still makes the single disc less desirable, but it shouldn't change the picture quality of the film.

Yes it should, because the movie was spread onto the second disc. Squeezing all those audio tracks and a 4 hour movie onto 1 dual layered disc is a disasterous idea. Just look it how it affected the Canadian Brotherhood of the Wolf and that was about an hour shorter.

My Target still has the two copies they've always had since last summer for $24.99. I'll think about picking one up.

Just saw a copy in Fry's Electronics (Phoenix) last night. I am not sure how much it was but guess wasn't more than $25.

Sorry, I didn't realize that the movie spread across two discs (I have it but haven't watched the whole thing yet). Could it be that the single disc is two-sided?

I have the 2 disc, but maybe the 1 disc only has 5.1 instead of also adding a stereo surround track, and the other tracks? Just a thought. Anyone know for sure. And yeah, I've wondered about the transfer as well on the 1 disc.

This debate has been going on for months!

DOES ANYONE HAVE THE ONE DISC VERSION???

We need to know how the transfer is! My guess is that it's a double sided disc, and they dropped the extras.
