Bugsy Malone SE

Anyone remember this great little film, directed by Alan Parker and starring Scott Biao (what a shame) and Jodie Foster?

It was a musical with kids playing the parts of gangsters and their molls, with "splurge" guns that shot custard pies (it's a lot better when you see it).

Anyway I'm glad I held off buying a barebones r2 editon (even though it was widescreen) as there is an SE coming out shortly.

Although this is region 2 again, it looks like a nice disc, with commentary from Parker, teasers, promo reel and more.

Even better - any news on a r1 version of this?

Obviously with the lack of interest in this thread, I can see why no-one will issie this in r1 land.

Must admit I'd prefer a r1 release.

Seems the kind of package Criterion would put together. It's certainly their kind of film.

But r2 is better than no region at all...

Bugsy Malone is scheduled to be released on dvd in April. When I return to work tommorow, I'll find the article from our monthly dvd newsletter we get and get more info out for you. Of course it's Paramount, so you'll know what to expect. Nonetheless it's still one of the best musicals. I was lucky enough to grab the soundtrack before it went out of print.

Once again, I read this somewhere, and I'm gonna try to find it as soon as I can.

I would love to have this movie. Is Paramount really releasing it soon?

That sounds great!

Hope it's true, and will hopefully include the Alan Parker commentary (would be a great seling point).

Also, with this having been remastered at the same time as The Last Unicorn, maybe that too will come to r1 sometime soon-ish!
