so far I've got all the OOPs mentioned in this thread.

The only tricky one is the one you wanted , Josh. As you probably know, it was a LE, and Disney has stated that it is highly unlikely that it will be released again. There's always a chance, but still...

Actually, in a way, OOP titles shouldnt be re-released. Think about all those guys who busted their balls and wallets to get a title off EBAY or whatever trying to find it. Hypothetically, let's say I bought "The Killer:CC" off EBAY for 500$. I wouldn't feel too good if they rereleased it later for $40, and I could find it in every store.

This happens with "A Bug's Life:CE." I worked my ass off to get this rare title, and now they're rereleasing it? what kind of shit is that? :rar:

they need to re-release the image titles:

They Live
Robocop 2 (don't give a crap about 3...it sucked)
Prince of Darkness
Flash Gordon

even though i have all but They Live they could use a decent special edition with at least some extras.

i got bigtime lucky with this one, found it at wal-mart for $14 just after they released that crapper single disk edition. they must have lumped the 2 disk and single disk price together. i knew it would go OOP so i picked it up in a hurry.

The Charlie Chaplin features. I thought they were a little pricey, and only bought City Lights. I hear that if they ever do get re-released, they will not be the David Shepherd restorations, but Chaplin's own versions from the 70's which feature (in some cases), slowed-down prints. I hope that's just a rumor. I wish I'd picked up a few more. Guess I'll have to hang on to my laserdiscs.

I'd say The Killer: CC also, but I'd rather buy the better (and loads cheaper) Hong Kong Legends version.

Rain Man!

I recently got into home theater and by the time I got around to looking for this title I found out that it was OOP. This is one of my all time favorites.

hehe, fat chance. Not in a million years. You might as well spend the extra money.

They JUST issued the one-discer of Fight Club, if you want to settle for that. 4 commentaries included.

Actually the Fight Club 2disk set will eventually come back into print, at least according to Fox. This past year they had their usual internet chat(you can probably still find the transcript on thedigitalbits.com) and the guy who heads up their dvd department said that all of the 2disk sets that Fox has put out will eventually come back in print, if they have been taken out of print, so you can always have that to look out for.

I'm on a mission now Stink...

I'm gonna find you one. How much is too much to spend on it for you, and do you care if it's used if it's in good shape?

e-mail me and tell me how much is too much to spend...

EVERYONE should own this DVD set. It's one of my favorites. A Default view when I don't know what else to watch.

J.

i appreciate the offer jjunker but if it will come back in print in the near future this wont be necessary. i enjoyed the movie but it isnt a movie i must have right now. i just kinda got nervous thinking this would be it and id have to get a copy now.
though i much rather prefer a new copy. i dont know why but i like having NEW Dvds. so that im the only one that has owned it. and to get a new one now just definetly aint worth it. ill wait till they rerelease the set and i can get it for $20 again.

Wow, I totally forgot that "Fight Club" was OOP. I remember hearing about the DVD, buying it the day it was released, and watching the movie some 6 times in one week. Good times. Unfortunately, because I've carted it around so much, it's all scratched up. I believe it still plays fine, but I'm not sure. Man, I'd be sad if I scratched it beyond recognition and then it was impossible to replace it ar reasonable cost

Brook

I feel the same way about my original copy of Little Shop of Horrors. I would be so sad if something happened to it. Not just because of the value of the disc, but because I truly love that movie, and I really love the alternate ending.

So, I would love it, if it went back into print with that ending so I wouldn't have to worry.

Of course, I could just get a DVD-R player and make a backup. While I was at it, I could get a lot of the odds and ends on my LaserDiscs that I've had to keep because of extras that aren't on the respective DVDs.

I think I would call that set "The DVD Roundfile". Catchy, huh?

With Fight Club, at least you can still get that movie, and with the same quality as the 2-disc set. It's not like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which we know for a fact won't be released again until 2011.

I want Universal to release their own version of Amazon Women on the Moon. The Image version I have has been OOP for a while. It was derived from an old pan and scan transfer, and has no extras.

It could take a while though, as Universal is taking their sweet time in releasing their own versions of those Image titles, such as They Live. Are the new editions of Weird Science and Sixteen Candles, as well as The Breakfast Club (not originally released by Image) still on for April?

I have the Aeon Flux volume, but would certainly love for them to put it back out in a box set with the other 2 volumes that complete the series.

I'd vote for "The Towering Inferno." Why is this OOP? Hoping a special edition is on the way.

And what's up with "Animal House" going OOP? I have the Collectors Edition from Universal. Odd that they'd take it off the market. Anyone know why?

I think Fox said that they were going to reissue some of the 2 disc editions this year (same contents, different packaging) in their last HTF chat.

I'm with you all the way. I won't be truly happy until my favorite horror film of all time--Prince of Darkness--finally gets the Special Edition treatment to some extent like The Fog (a 2-disc edition of Prince of Darkness is probably slightly out of the realm of possibility). They Live needs to be in my collection too.

Someone (Warner) please give us Special Editions of The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!!! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE....PLEASE!!!!!!!! I'm begging 'ya.
