Concerts on DVD

I'm always looking for good concerts on DVD. I have the Fleetwood Mac "The Dance", James Taylor "Live at the Beacon Theatre" and Keny Loggins DVD. The first two are excellent. The second is so-so. Just picked up the Sara McLachlan Mirrorball DVD. Looks & Sounds great. The multi-angle on the three tracks are a bit confusing - in that the view of the song changes so much I can't tell if I was the one that changed the angle. Circuit City has a good buy on this DVD. The Mirrorball DVD came with the Sara McLachlan Video collection DVD - both for 15.99. You can't beat the price.

I second the motion: Mirrorball is an awesome DVD. Let's hope it signals the way future concert DVD's will be presented.

Another great concert DVD is REM's Road Movie. The sound and performance is exceptional, and the light show makes for a great disc.

(I also agree with the other 2 comments about Mirrorball. I've seen Sarah in concert twice and this is a great representation of her live show).

Music for Montserrat is a great concert DVD.
It features an all-star setup (Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul Mc Cartney, Sting to name but a few) and they rock!

Absolutely best of my about 5 concert DVDs is Eagles: Hell Freezes Over (DTS). The sound is awesome and video is good as well. Especially the Hotel California track and all the rest as well. Magnificient acoustic guitars, percussions, etc. Can't tell how satisfied I'm with this one.

The worst one I have is the Cream crap.

How does the Hell Freezes Over DTS _video_disc_ compare with the Audio-only DTS disc? Is it the same soundtrack? That would really make it worthwhile, price-wise....

Cheers

other cool concert dvds are:

ROLLING STONES LIVE AT THE MAX
the video is great (THX) and the sound is very cool, too. though i sometimes miss the punch of my subwoofers

ERIC CLAPTON UNPLUGGED
i bought this dvd because of "tears in heaven". but the other tracks are also very nice. sound is great, picture, too

but the coolest concert dvd i have ever seen is

TINA TURNER LIVE IN AMSTERDAM (DTS)
tina turner rocks the stadium when she gets on stage. the songs are damn cool and she plays all of her hits. and when i say all of them, i mean ALL OF THEM!!!!
the DTS sound is the most impressive sound i´ve ever heard. just listen to the the crowd singing "simply the best"... with tina. i get the shivers when i hear that...really....
this disc is a must-buy for every fan of concert dvds...
even my father who likes the music of the stones much better than tina said that this dvd is simply stunning...
get it!!!!

greets from austria

My latest is Alice In Chains Unplugged which is excellent. I also have Sarah McLachlan's - Mirrorball and Video Collection - Bjork's Volumen and her DVD single All Is Full Of Love - Pat benatar's Live In New Haven (excellent) and The Doors Collection. These are all excellent and I'm anxiously awaiting Pink Floyd's The Wall and Stop making Sense from The Talking HEads has been shipped.

These concerts are wonderful and I would absolutely love to see one or more by Tom Waits.

If you are a Metallica fan, I recommend 'Cunning Stunts' and the upcoming 'S&M.' S&M was recorded this last April with the San Francisco Symphony and is supposed to be awesome.

The best of the Best is Tina Turner - Wildest Tour - Live in Amsterdam in the DTS Version. I have not heard something better for the moment. It is great.

Daniel,

Sarah's Video Collection DVD that I have is the Canadian version with a couple of songs/versions that are not available on the US release, so this is a tough call. However, I'd have to go with Mirrorball if I had to choose. The overall quailty of this disc is fabulous and the extras, such as the multi-angle viewing on selected tracks for example, is excellent.

If you want to see a really kick-ass concert DVD, check out Stop Making Sense from The Talking Heads. This is the best concert I've seen to date.
