'Dreams' review up on the 'File now!

http://dvdfile.com/software/review/d..._6/dreams.html
I'm SO happy Warner has a good transfer on it. The Region 2 version has a fine transfer, so I guess this is no expection. Because of the lack of a 5.1 mix and just a 2.0 track (along with a great Anamorphic transfer), and because the extras are the same, I guess this is a port of the Japanese Warner DVD (which really isn't a bad thing at all). I'm amazingly happy to have this in Region 1, though. Can't wait for the release so I can rewatch this masterpiece (It's been quite a while since I've seen it, so I don't remember too much about it).
I don't like the coverart as much as the Japanese cover, though, because the Japanese cover had that pretty Kanji letter and the Dreams text looks better; Japanese cover art:

I haven't seen this in a long time too. I do remember little bits from it.

SPOILER.....................................

I like the snow sequence with the soldier falling asleep in the storm and then he realized what was happening with the voice and tried to wake up.

Also the scene in the forest with the prossession, I think it was a funeral.

I love the sequence with the man running through the painting. That was pretty cool.

END SPOILER...............................................................................

I am looking forward to seeing this again. It's the only Kurosawa films I've seen.

WOW! I totally didn't even know this was being released in region 1! Yipiee!

Oh, I've wanted to see this film for so very long! The cover art on both versions is exquisite, too.

Brook

Because it looks basically like an exact port of the Region 2 Japanese release), here's some shots of the great Region 2 transfer (shots from DVDBeaver.com):

Looks great.

I forgot this was being released too! I'm glad the picture quality is excellent for a non-Criterion release. And cheaper than the Criterion discs--no $50 CDN price tag (there's a reason why I don't have more Criterions in my collection--I can't beg my fiancee--the main breadwinner--all the time! )!

The procession was a wedding, I believe.

This is such a brilliant film. It tends to polarize people who think that it is a little masturbatory, but I would love the chance to make films from dreams I have had throughout my life.

...maybe I will...

I got my copy of Dreams today. I haven't watched it yet, though I gotta say that I am pretty disappointed with the snapper case and the quality of the image on the cover. Fortunately everything I have read says the film looks great...I thought I was having a Fox Lorber moment when I got it.
