The Ring -- VHS packaging so much cooler!

has anyone seen this? The VHS comes in a clear plastic case. It's hard to explain exactly what it looks like, kinda like the old Johny Pneumonic (sp?) VHS case. Now that I think about it, it's not really that cool but I still like it more than the DVD case. If I can find a pic, I'll post it.

What would've been really cool though is if they mimic the look of the VHS tape in the movie.

Much better than the DVD, I agree.

I also think we got gyped on the Ringu packaging. I was scanning through the other regions, and their all so much cooler than ours.

Yah the VHS packaging is really cool, I mean the clear case and the white thin lines. Ohhh soo sweet!

Over $100M at the Box Office and we cant even get a decent DVD and extras. This thing will sell HUGE!

Gore has already stated that he thought any big extras would ruin the mystique of the movie, so what was released is what we're getting and I really wouldn't expect a special edition because of what he said.

For ElCuCuy:
Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
If you're talking about Rachel -- she just didn't know any better. She thought the curse would end if she freed her from the well. It also makes a good ending that's open for a sequel.
Now, if you're referring to Samara, well, she's a ruthless bitch spirit who doesn't care what she does. She just likes to kill.

JFelix is right, though. I feel that the movie's feel of mild, though incredulous realism would be kind of ruined with a bunch of extras that prove that it isn't real.

Screw the remake, I just saw the original.
In the immortal words of Uma Thurman, "I say GODDAMN!"
A) Excellent transfer and subtitles. This is probably the best treatment the original Ring has gotten on disc.
B) It was far classier than I expected and certainly a very clever and well-thought-out feature that doesn't rely on the ending for its punch, like too many other thrillers. The way the opening expertly established tension was PERFECT.

Personally I'm a little pissed they felt the need to continue the bootleg tradition of sticking unselectable trailers on the disc (i.e. you click the trailers option and it runs a trailer reel, not a menu where you can make selections) and that there's no insert. All this and for $30, too. Still, Dreamworks treated it with a lot of respect and that deserves some props, even if the stores are being stupid; literally, my local FYE stocked TWO COPIES. Both, by the way, sold out!

That's not it at all. It resembles the DVD art more, but with a clear case.
