Jaws 3, a classic! That part at Sea World in that underwater tube still freaks me out.

I wonder what the difference the new Jaws 4 has compared to the one that is out now.

Jaws 4 better include the far better original theatrical ending in the film itself(not as a special feature) otherwise the dvd won't be worth getting.

The films bad...laughably bad.Yet the original ending was pretty cool.I only saw it once on cable years ago.Yet i remember being surprised it had a different & better ending.

In fact this happened when we were kids & it aired. We had seen the film on video a few times before. The ending with Mario Van Peebles surviving despite being chomped in half & dragged deep into the ocean(!) is so bad & fake.We always laughed in disbelief at how fake it was.So once when it aired on Cinemax or HBO.We turned it on to the ending to show someone how stupid it was.Only this time..Peebles died & the shark was killed rather gruesomely!

Turns out that was the original ending as seen in theaters. It was changed to the pathetic 'happy' ending on video.Probably stupidly thinking that a different ending will save the already bad film, lol.

Still i find the film a hoot when it comes on tv.Everything from the very fake plastic motionless shark they push into frame,to the shark roaring(!) like a lion,to Caine playing a charecter named Hoagie. The films fun to laugh at..& pure bad sequel heaven.

Yet if the dvd does not contain the original ending. Then just sticking with the Goodtimes release(which i don't have) would be best.Heck i've stuck with my Goodtimes of Halloween 2..since the Universal release is a ripoff for what little it offers, yet costs much more.

I saw JAWS 4 in the theatres and remember that original ending with Van Peebles. And then of course, the shark was also killed differently in the original film than in the video and later TV release.
They really did a change on that one by the time I saw it the 2nd time.

This all just sounds very strange to me. Until I see this or another site giving official word from Universal I'm not going to get my hopes up. Like I said, I was just told this year they had no plans to release Jaws 3 on DVD. Also, I find it odd that DVDPlanet is listing them first before other e-retailers as they are usually the last (along with Amazon) to put new things up for pre-order.

Could someone also tell me the different ways in which the shark died in the different versions?

This is part of Uni's June promo for "Unleash the Beasts", which includes the 4 Jaws films, the 3 Jurassic Park films, and the 3 Mummy/Scorpian King films.

How's this for confirmation?

I was never fond for any of the Jaws sequels, but I enjoyed the 3D aspect Jaws 3 offered. That was pretty cool when it first came out. I might give these a rent if the transfers are decent simply for the cheese factor. Very campy indeed.

Great news on the Jaws DVD's!

Jaws 3 is now on my list of future purchases.

Having the original US theatrical version of Jaws The Revenge is the only reason that i'd be interested in double dipping.
If they don't include the orginal ending then i'll just stick with my Goodtimes DVD.

What would be nice is Universal includes the "happy ending" as one of the extras.

The ending to Jaws 4 caused violent arguments when I was a kid. An older kid in the neighborhood had seen it in the theatres, while I had only seen it on video. He swore up and down that Mario Van Peebles dies, while I vividly remembered him surviving. I described the hospital bed scene, etc...and he described what he remembered. We were both utterly convinced that we were right, which made sense years later when I realized that we were both right.

All that anger and irritation over a crappy movie like Jaws 4.

I'd only pick up Jaws 3 if it was released in the original 3-D with a couple of glasses.

I don't know which is which, but in one version the shark is speared by the pointy thing on the front of the boat (boy, do I know my nautical terms or what?)...You see a shot of the shark sinking to the bottom, bleeding profusely from the impalement, the front of the boat broken off and stuck through him.

In another version, when the pointy thing hits the shark it EXPLODES for absolutely NO reason! Laughably lame!

You would need more then the glasses Jaws 3 along with a few others (like Friday the 13th Part 3) were filmed in a special kind of 3D that does not use the red/blue glasses. You would need to buy a special decoder and special glasses to view the films in 3D. I think the decoder that you have to hook up goes for about $79-100 and I have no idea how much the glasses cost.

The two versions of JAWS THE REVENGE:

1) In the theatrical version, ol' Bruce leapt into the air and Ms. Brody steers the boat right into him, harpooning him on the front. This is also the version where Mario replaced Quint and became the final snack of the shark.

2) Mario goes overboard and the shark is blown up all over again, this time Mario makes it back safe and sound (with a nice paycheck for the re-shoot, I am sure...just in case they did JAWS ANOTHER REVENGE).

I love the way the shark roars in this film..... amazing!

But I do admit, as bad as 3-D is, the idea of fooling us the baby is the main shark and then bringing in what is probably the biggest of all the sharks, is pretty cool!

Anybody have any more info on this:

http://www.stereoscopy.com/news/index.html

Quote:
"SENSIO is not only launching the most innovative 3D home theatre technology at CES but we are making sure that retailers and consumers will have access to the best 3D movies from a library of approximately 150 existing titles on film," said Nicholas Routhier, President of SENSIO. "They will include some of the sixty classic 3D movies made in the 50's such as Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder and House of Wax starring Vincent Price as well as some of the more recent 80's movies such as Jaws 3D and Friday the 13th 3D.
I would buy Jaws 3 and Friday the 13th 3 if I could get them in 3-D.

I will buy Dial M for Murder either way, but would totally double-dip it they were put out separately...

No problem.

I found that by accident with a yahoo search just trying to get updated info on the status of Dial 'M' For Murder on DVD.
