Double Sided Keep Case Cover Art

The other day while opening Creepshow 2 I noticed some writting on the back side of the cover art insert when removing the disc. I slide out the insert to find a short summary of Production notes about the film. I was suprissed to see this, and am now wondering how many other people knew about this. Am I one of the few to notice Ancor Bay sometimes does this and their just wasting their time printing on the backside. Or has everone else noticed this but me. I looked threw most of my Ancor Bay releases only to find one other title (in my collection)Repo Man. So My Question is what (if any) other DVD's utilze the back ok the cover art insert for any reason?

I't would be nice if studios would start printing Double sided inserts with two different versions of the cover art. One side could be the regalar studio "Buy me" trash art, and the other could be more of the movie lovers art. I'd be happy with the original poster art, but this is just a dream since thiers probably not any major Hollywood studio out ther that whoud pay for double the printing. Although it's strange that I've seen double sided pornography cover art from 2 bit porno studios, but never one on a big Hollywood players DVD's. The porno studios utilize their covers by printing a hardcore version on one side, and a toned down more of a R rating version on the flip side. I'm still not positive why they do this , but I beleive it's because some U.S States have laws on what can be displayed in plain veiw of the public even in sex shops. Ethier way I think it's a good Idea to use both sides of the insert, anyone else?

The only thing I've noticed it on are some anime titles. Some just do production notes, others give you a japanese side and an english side.

Sadly, only wishful thinking, in times where studios refuse to print double sided covers for the Canadian market, with one being french only and the other side being english only, but mix both together on both sides to make maximum profit...

J Greer, here's an example big fat studios should see...

Artificial Eye, a small UK company released the Piano Teacher DVD with their own regular cover art on one side and the original poster art on the other:

I see a lot of American porn DVDs that have double-sided cover art, but the art is the same on both sides.

I love that!
I've always really been a fan of Artifical Eye's regular artwork, though. It's a bit basic, sure, but it gets the job done without making it look really ugly.

Yeah I've seen this sometimes.

They also sometimes use 2 different covers, being reversible.
Some that do this are:
-FLCL vol 1., Vol. 2, and I am guessing volume 3 when it becomes available.
-X the series is one that does this also.

I have seen others, but I can't recall them at all right now.
I am guessing the DC of Dawn of the Dead has this as well. I know my VHS copy has some notes on the backside.

Imagine if every DVD was like this. Then, once a year, you could change every piece of cover art in your collection and it would be like you got new DVDs!!

One of the many reasons I'm glad I double dipped on the re release of the Black Christmas dvd is the cover reverses to the original theatrical poster art for the front cover

Riedenschneider:

The Alliance/Atlantis Canadian DVDs of Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction, and Beast Wars volumes 1 & 2 are all double-sided with English on one side and french on the other.

Maybe it's just that studio or something... I don't have any other studio's canadian releases.

Plus, I'm sure that these are just the "peas in the mattress" in the "DVD bedroom" anyways.

The FLCL releases are pretty much double-sided because the episodes were released on DVD in Japan with only 1 episode per DVD, so there were 6 different covers, and here we're getting 2 episodes per DVD (which is still a rip-off!), so they're putting 1 cover on each side, so we don't miss out on the cover artwork.

Times have changed. All new releases from Universal, Alliance/Atlantis/Miramax and Paramount (and others?) are bilingual on both sides now...

The new canadion version of Good Will Hunting is now also bilingual, as is the collector's edition of Pulp...

At www.dv-depot.com you can check if the canadian versions are bilingual.

I've seen a few with the same image on both sides, but for the most part they've been different. I guess its just depends on the studio. Some times the art I've seen has even been hardcore on one side, and a teaser with no nudity on the other.

That sucks.

Still glad I have that Good Will Hunting though, I doubt that Disney will ever feel the need to make a new edition of it...

That's where I bought my Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction and Trainspotting DVDs.

Did they add those spec stats recently?
