thinking about buying a divx player...
Ah, memories...boy, that takes me back...I got a little nostalgic and started looking up old anti-divx pages. But actually, I do have a divx related question.
According to the old press release, divx discs should still be playable up to two years. A: Does anyone here have a registered divx player? B: If so, do you ever use divx discs? (Insert coaster reference here) Just curious...as the young kids say, peace out, yo.manigrasso ------------------ If He had the opportunity to get to know you first, maybe Jesus would not have died for your sins...think about it... |

Manigrasso,
Since you asked for it, I do have two DIVX discs - Bride of Chucky and some crappy John Clod Van Darn movie (does it matter which one?). One I kept in the wrapper and the other I threw on the floor and let the cats play with it. I use AOL CD-ROMs for coasters Anyway, looking at the topic of this thread, are you seriously thinking of buying a DIVX player? You can't register it now, if you're thinking of getting really cheap rentals. Not to mention the fact that Circuit City took all the remaining DIVX discs and destroyed them. Miggy, the Thief |

No, I am NOT thinking about buying a DIVX player. But I do have my eye on a snazzy Edsel...just curious as to who bought one and if they still use the feature (it's not a feature! It's a format! No, it's a feature! Please put the knife down!)

What's Divx?
![]() Ha,you knew I would have to weigh in on this one. Yes I still use my Divx player.More for DVD's as always.I still have a bunch of discs to watch. Miggy is right. You cant register a player unless you know someone and they put it on their account like I did for a coworker of mine. I think it's really crappy what CC did. They said they were willing to support Divx for two years at least.I didnt thin k it would be in a phase out situation, and further, they thought that it was better to destroy the entire Divx library they had left than give them to Divx owners? I learned my lesson about them the hard way.Sure I liked the rental alternative system but the whole thing, especially the Destruction of the discs, has left me bitter towards them.I havent shopped in CC ever since and am back to best buy. On a lighter note I love the Netflix marquee program. It fills the movie rental bill better than Divx ever could. I get my movies 2-3 days after I check them. They are full fledged DVD's widescreen with extras. In my last month or two with DIVX Id like to disconnect my player from the wall and then proceed to watch all the good movies over again for free If I can. |

I was just thinking about this myself last night. As happy as I am that divx is history, I do find myself missing the old debates. Those were scary times (I still say we wouldn't currently have disney on dvd if divx were still around), but the debates were a lot of fun.

I heard Henry took his economics class on a field trip to Seattle to view the WTO. He started lecturing to them about divx being good, and the protesters turned on him. That's what starting all the rioting
