New Superbit Titles

Columbia will release another ten titles between July and October. The only ones I know of are Spider-Man, Starship Troopers, Riverdance, The One, and Lawrence Of Arabia...

I'm wondering when Leon gets its Superbit release. I've already got the two other copies, so it's only reasonable to expect the third...

With Columbia, I wouldn't doubt it.

By the way, I meant to put this down earlier, but where did you hear about these, just out of curiosity?

Yeah but which cut of the movie will they release. We have the Professional Theater release and then Leon The Professional Director's Cut. I would hope if they do release the movie it would be the DC of the movie.

dammit, i JUST bought Starship Troopers after putting it off for so long (I have the laserdisc which had more extras than the original DVD release). Oh well, I guess I'm glad, a few of the scenes look like crap on the current release...

I'm waiting for the Superbit edition of The ChubbChubbs.

Just think how much better it will look and sound with a DTS track and all that space for video!

No need for any extras, like a commentary or anything.

On topic - I'm not suprised Spider-Man is getting the Superbit treatment, but I'm very satisfied with my Special Edition so I won't double dip. The movie looks good enough already, and while DTS would be nice, I'm not going to rebuy a DVD just for a DTS track, especially since only one of my players will play DTS.

Glad to hear they're doing Lawrence of Arabia again. Hopefully, it will be spread across two discs like the Das Boot Superbit. That way, the single-disc version won't be the only one on the market. But I have the Limited Edition and I'm thrilled with it, so I'd probably pass on a Superbit.

If this Starship Troopers disc happens, though, I'll probably hit that one. That's not the kind of movie I especially care about having the extras for.

Agreed. I didn't buy the LE, but was about to get the single disc. I'll probably get Lawrence and Starship out of this batch.

Starship Troopers, and most likely Lawrence of Arabia would be on my "to buy" list.

I'm pleased they're doing Lawrence of Arabia. I wanted it without getting the increasingly expensive SE. I borrowed it from a buddy, so I can say I've seen the features at least once (which was as many times as I was going to see them anyways). I hope they include the original sound mix.

They really aren't all that expensive. DeepDiscountDVD has all of the older ones for $20.34 a piece including shipping. I'm not sure what they cost at Best Buy, but that price doesn't seem too out of line to me.

I don't think I'll be getting any of them this time around. I'm content with my current editions of Starship Troopers and Lawrence of Arabia. I doubt that they can match the sturdy canvas packaging. I also don't feel that the metallic look goes with Lawrence.

I think they are a little high at Best Buy at $22ish. I buy mine at Fry's usually for $19.99. Not bad at all, and well worth it.

I'm sure I'll pick up Spider-man, since the first release has a poor transfer. I will probably pick up the Starship Troopers disc as well.

I'm happy with the current Lawrence of Arabia disc.

expensive?? they're about the same as any other typical release... unless you meant for titles such as Crouching Tiger, Desperado, etc. since those have had pricedrops. things like Snatch are about the same price as the regular releases...
