Roger: Pig Head scene NOT COMPLETE!

I reviewed the Roger rabbit disc for DVDToons recently, and was finally able to see the deleted "pig head" scene, cut from the film.

I was awestruck and thrilled to see some new Roger footage and played up the fact in my review.

I went to show a friend of mine this the other day and something new struck me - the scene is NOT COMPLETE!

SPOILERS (for those who haven't seen the clip):

Eddie breaks into Jessica's dressing room and is caught by Doom and the Weasels. He's shipped off to ToonTown. He emerges with his "toonarooned" Pig Head painted on and runs off down the street. Cut to Eddie in the shower washing the paint off...

In the preceeding commentary on why the clip was cut, director Robert Zemeckis' voice is covered by pencil tests and early working versions of the clip - including a finished section where Eddie enters his office and checks out his face in a mirror. This section is not in the so called "deleted scene" (it would follow him running down the street and before he showers) even though it also appears in the theatrical trailer (on disc one).

It's actually the one part of that scene that was in the trailer - "AAHH, I'M A PIG!" - that IS NOT in the deleted scene!

I'm really annoyed at this. Really annoyed.

If you're going to include a deleted scene, include the whole damn thing!

OK, so now we're complaining about deleted shots from deleted senes? Isn't that a bit too trivial? Maybe they cut the shot out before they deleted the scene and only had the scene without the shot to give us.

What do you mean "we're"? I'm just happy to get the SE of that movie and glad they took the time to put anything extra on it.

I don't know. Surely "we" doesn't imply everyone. It's just a bad habit of mine. As an example, when I write about a certain topic I tend to use "you" a lot. As in "how could you...." When of course the reader plays no role in the writing.

This was the exact same cut i remember seeing when they aired Rogger Rabbit on network tv for the first time with the cut scene.

Nowhere on the disc or packaging does it read "all footage related to the following deleted scene". It simply reads "deleted scene". I take that to mean that what we got was the finished scene, as it appeared in the first cut of the movie, before it was deleted. In other words, even if the scene had been left in the movie, the footage of Eddie entering his office would not have been in it. Are we clear now?

...but that footage was completed and appears in the trailer ("Ahh, I'm A Pig!")

Sorry, but I am such a Roger fanatic and had never been able to see this scene before. I just wanted to see the whole thing.

Even Zemeckis himself on the commentary notes that there was more, that Jessica walks in on Eddie in the Shower, and that the whole "lift" from the movie was around 8 minutes.

That's quite a lot to cut and not show.
