Solaris cover art and menus
This is almost as bad as something Universal would make: ![]() Menus aren't that bad, though: ![]() ![]() ![]() 20th Century, listen to me: THE ORIGINAL POSTER ART WAS FINE! USE IT!

Nice menus.
Cover art is VERY disappointing. I realize they need to mooch off of Clooney's recognizability, but damn. I think it could have been a LOT worse (ala Columbia covers as a whole, or the Phone Booth cover found on the main page). The original poster was just so nice and complementary of the film's style and tone though..... Didn't expect this from FOX. Again, it coulda been much worse I feel, but anything other than the original theatrical poster is a big disappointment. Can't wait to buy the DVD though. Loved this movie to death.. it's still holding on as my 2nd or 3rd favourite of last year. |

I concur, it is rather disappointing but as Marq rightly points out, it could have been a lot worse.
I too can't wait for this dvd to sit in my collection.

Is it me, or are they trying very hard to look like 2001: A Space Odyssey?

I agree. I missed this film in theaters, my local shitty theater played it for one weekend and I didn't get a chance to go do to work. What's everyone's thoughts on the film? |

I haven't seen the movie yet, and this cover art isn't going to do any extra persuading. I think they made a huge mistake. If they are looking to win new viewers on video, they won't be getting many bites judging by this cover. It's atrocious. The Region 2 cover is better.

I saw it in theater. While it was very slow, I think it was one of the best movies of last year. Very thought-provoking. I would recommend it if you like movies that require paying attention and aren't action-oriented. If you're looking for sci-fi action, it's not the way to go, which I think is one reason that the cover art they're using is a colossal mistake: they're going after the wrong audience. A better cover would have been a shot of Clooney and McElhone on Earth in the bookshop, or something. That would give uninitiated users a better idea of what the movie truly is: a love story.

I only wanted to see this movie just becuz Steven Soberberg directed it. I don't rember ever seeing a tv spot or trailer for the movie. But I know the reviews were not to good for it. I will rent this DVD when it comes out. And that cover art is so bad I want to be sick.

A 64% Fresh rating among critics isn't what I'd consider very bad reviews. I love this movie and look forward to owning it and watching it many more times, including perhaps a double bill with my Solaris: Criterion disc.... I'll again say that I wish FOX had used the nice original poster art: ![]() |

That is an awful box art, but I thought the movie was also slow but thought provoking. The only thing I hated was that if U breathed loud in the theater everyone could hear U
Plus I had a Large Popcorn and I almost never got to eat any because it was soooooo quiet. |

OK, I do not like the cover art. Yes, that's very "2001-ish"
The poster one sheet is nicer, but probably not the best for the DVD cover. Now if they did that one sheet with a superimposition of the outer space shot, then that might work. Menu's look nice. I like that Region 2 cover better. -Flash
