T2 Ultimate Edition Question

Hi,

I have the 2-disc Terminator 2:Ultimate Edition.

Is there any difference between this and the one with the DVD-18?

Just wondering.

Thanks a lot for any info!

Zack

I have the 2 disk and yea the disks have artwork on them. The split was done to make production faster due to the high demand.

The two-disc does have artwork, but for some reason it says "Side 1" and "Side 2." If it wasn't used for the DVD-18, why doesn't it say "Disc 1" and "Disc 2?"

It couldn't have been used or planned to use for the 18. Since the 18 reads information off of both sides you can't have any artwork screened onto it at all.

There might be some references in the menus and text to 'Side 1' and 'Side 2' and this was done to make the naming consistent to keep less bright viewers from getting confused.

Although there is no difference between the two in terms of features, there is a difference in terms of price you can get for them.....

The flipper should get more, as it was pressed in a far more limited number, mainly because the cost was high to produce this type of disc (dual side dual layer) and also because of the relative rarity of the pressing plants able to do such a disc.

Try and find more than a few other titles of the same type! There aren't many about!

Also i believe that they changed the coding of some of the branching aspects of the menus because of the fact that a lot of players (at the time) had trouble accessing certain things.

Yeah, the DVD-18 version caused several DVD players grief, at least when it first came out. I'm sure any "current" DVD player wouldn't have any problems.

Peace...

I really wanted to have the 2-disc version, but I preordered it, and sort of got the DVD-18 because it came out first...

When you pre-ordered T2:UE, you thought you were pre-ordering a 2-disc set? I thought the initial DVD release of the UE was DVD-18 and they changed to DVD-9 later on.

Peace...

They used dvd-9's to fill in the gaps in their production quotas, cause they knew they wouldn't be able to meet demands with the single dvd-18 version. I bought my copy of T2 UE on release day and got the 2 disc version.

I had it already preordered, and then before the set was released, the studio let it be known that they wouldn't be able to make enough DVD-18's quick enough to put it out, and announced that the DVD-18's were going to be a limited initial run, and after that they would all be done as a "2 DVD-9" set.

But, there were also rumors rampant that you'd have to wait for the DVD-18's to run out before you could get the DVD-9 version, and there was also confusion on whether or not the DVD-9 version would be available with the metal slipcase.

So, I let my worries over having the metal slipcase, and my impatience of wanting the set right away take priority over my need of the convenience of being able to put 2 discs in my multi-disc player, instead of having to flip the disc over for the supplements... *sigh* the decisions collectors have to make sometimes...
