Good/Decent Movies that should never have a sequel made

I just saw Identity this weekend, which I liked. I think I can say without spoiling it that it leaves itself open a bit for a sequel or 17. This got me thinking about what movies that don't currently have sequels (or only rumored sequels) that should NEVER have one.

My list for right now, will add more as I can think of some:
Se7en
Identity
Ice Age
Ocean's Eleven
Jeepers Creepers (I know it has one coming but they should have just left it alone)

Both of these have sequels coming as well. Maybe you knew that and I'm just slow.

Well, Ocean's 11's sequel is more than rumored. But I'm not too nervous about it since Soderberg is behind it (and the first one isn't very special to me so I'm not afraid that it could be "ruined" by a bad sequel).
Se7en's is... well... God I hope that doesn't happen.

Anyways, there are plenty of movies that shouldn't ever have a sequel.

Citizen Kane, Fargo, Ghost World, Dude Where's My Car?, True Romance, Taxi Driver, Tromeo and Juliet, The Shining, Tod Browning's Freaks, Do the Right Thing, Slacker, Mulholland Dr, Adaptation, Suspiria, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Magnolia, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Stranger than Paradise, Bruce Lee Fights Back from the Grave, Annie Hall, Chinatown, Rushmore, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians... :p

I don't think Unbreakable needs or should have a sequel.

Magically she combined her laughing at a possible M.D. sequel and an unrelated thought about the SOTL sequels into one phrase via the infamous ellipsis (...).

"Dude" has a sequel on the way. Believe it or not, it's called "Seriously, Dude, Where's My Car". Not kidding.

And "Chinatown" already had one years and years ago. Don't you remember "The Two Jakes"?

Or, again, maybe you do remember it and that was your point. I'm slow to pick up sarcasm sometimes.

Yeah, I forgot about the Dude Where's My Car sequel.

And I haven't seen The Two Jakes, I wasn't aware of the connection.

I think almost every movie should not have a sequel. Of course there are a few that should, such as the LOTR trilogy and such. However almost every sequel sucks, and they are only made to cash in on the success of the first one.

That’s arguable, I think...just because two movies are on the same subject, doesn’t mean one is a sequel to the other. That’s kind of like saying Pearl Harbor is a sequel to Tora! Tora! Tora! I’m not quite sure what Where the Buffalo Roam is based on (maybe either various writings by Thompson or Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo by Oscar Zeta Acosta, but I’m not one hundred percent on that), but I don’t think Fear and Loathing is the follow-up, per se.

"The Two Jakes" is not that bad a movie. Sure, it's no "Chinatown" (what film could be?), but I think it's been unfairly maligned. It's a good continuation of "Chinatown," taking place after World War II and dealing with the early days of the real-estate boom in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. (It's not just a retread of the first movie, like many of the worst sequels are.) Definitely worth a look if you're a "Chinatown" fan. I avoided it for years, but was glad when I finally watched it.

you know, i know some movies should not have sequels because they live up in no way to the original....but.... if i like a movie i probably really like the characters would love to see them together again even if i know it will terrible, and if so, i will still definately see it, such as Oceans Eleven, the sequel is going to suck, but i will love to see all those characters back together again

The Thing
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers

these two I believe are in a world of their own, no sequels but remakes which are fine, I think there's another scheduled remake of The Thing in the works, and while Body has been remade 3 times, it's always been the same producer and he's been carefull to ensure each version is updated but still the same story.

Rob Roy is kind of the sequel to Bravehaert. The events that transpire are supposed to happen shortly after the events in Braveheart.

Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows (never should have been made)

Urban Legend 2: Final Cut (never should have been made)

Both were just cashing in on the original and brought nothing new or fresh to the table.

Same thing with Iron Monkey 2 (which ironically enough I THINK came out BEFORE Iron Monkey)

My favorite #1 movies where the sequels ruined the franchise:

The Crow (there is now a script for a 4th Crow movie in the works)

Robocop

LOLOLOL. Forrest Gump 2 in Cecil B Demented was easily one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I still laugh hysterically everytime I watch that part of the movie.

Also, I don't want a sequel to Old School, no way. But they need to get Vince Vaugh, Will Farrel, Artie Lang, and the main guy in another movie together.

Depends how you define "shortly". William Wallace died in 1305. Rob Roy was born in 1671. So there's a wee bit of a gap in between.
