rocky dvd box set

Was aynone else let down big time by this mgm set of the italian stallion. I mean, the first film was given a great treatment but what about the others. I mean, i love all the films of the series, even part 5, and they were all big hits at the box office, at least they could have created a new doc for the films, maybe a stallone comm for each film, he did direct 2 3 and 4. THere are even alot of deleted scenes floating around, the trailer for part 4 contatined a deleted scene of a board room talking about how evil drago was! I hope with the coming of rocky 6, maybe mgm was holding back a bit and give all the films the treatment they deserve!

I too wish MGM had put more effort into this set. But since I allready have it, I'd have to be pretty special for me to buy it if they ever released it again.

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed with the lackluster treatment of the sequels, that's why I only bought the first Rocky for myself. I did buy the set for my brother, who really doesn't care about bonus materials and such. I really thought they would've done better for Rocky II, wasn't that nominated for the best picture Oscar?

Rocky 1 will have a new DTS mix,
and new supplements will be added, including a bonus 6th disc of "A&E's Biography: Stallone"

Could this then mean we could expect a Batman box and Superman box re-issues down the road? All the Batman movies got poor treatment and only the first Superman was given any attention at all.

Well keep in mind the Rocky movies are MGM and the Superman/Batman movies are Warner. I imagine we will see a new Batman box set either when Batman Begins hits theatres or, more likely, when it hits DVD.

I only bought Rocky 1 and 2. Don't care for the others. Also a bit miffed that MGM is releasing this revamped box not even 2 years after the last one. I have no intentions of buying these films again, even though Rocky is one of my top 5 faves.

So let me get this straight ... MGM is re-releasing the movies, but in terms of special materials, there's not a heck of a lot. However, all the movies will now be in anamorphic? Is that correct? Will they release the films individually? I love all the movies except for the fifth one. In my mind, the events of the fifth movie never happened.

Does anyone know why #5 is the only one not getting 5.1? I know it's the least popular, but I would think that would remix it for consistencies sake at least. Is there a problem with the source material?

Typical. I've just bought the old boxset & now they pull this shit. Still, the only thing that interests me about this are the audio commentaries, & there's no way i'm gonna fork out for all these again just for those.

I am hearing two things now:

1) the only real difference is a sixth disc.

and

2) There will be audio commentaries and other features on the other discs.

I have not sold my last box set yet so if anyone gets the real stats, let us know!

Well, release date is soon for this one... and I am VERY mad that I traded in my old Rocky box set months ago.. I thought as we grow closer to street date for this new one that more special features would leak out...

..this is not the case. New sound, yes.. a 6th disc with only a Sly Special on it.. yes... but now I'm worried.. no special features on the first ROCKY? That means it's just the movie and a trailer! All those cool features that were on the special edition one is history!? GGGGGRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Now I'm gonna have to buy this new set AND find a copy of the first Rocky Special Edition DVD...

GRRRRRR

DUDES...

MGM just got picked up by Sony.

Why don't y'all wait for the "Rocky Anthology" SuperBit re-issue, and then the Deluxe Edition, with all the special features reinstated?

Then you can go and buy the Blu-Ray version that Sony bought MGM for in the first place, followed by the BRX disc (with all films on one disc)!

What's BRX?

Blu-Ray Xtra...the maximum bitrate version of High Def, of course!
