The Pocahontas SE is great news, as the deluxe laserdisc was spectacular. I just hope that the DVD will have 2 discs and contain most of the laser features. As for Lilo & Stitch, Disney fucks over fans again with their claims that the first disc would be it, forcing fans to buy it...then announcing the SE. I'll still buy it if it's a 2-discer, but I'm royally pissed-off.

Also, do we really need SE reissues of direct-to-video "cheapquels" like Pocahontas 2 and The Lion King: Simba's Pride?

You left off quite a few titles there, all the Touchstone catalogue titles. Many have been announced for the early fall.

of course NOT

There are many interesting Discs in that list. I hope the Special Editions will all be 2 Disc Sets with all features from the LDs and even more...

I also hope that the Sleeping Beauty Release in September will be labeled as a Platinum Editon.

I would buy:

07/01/03 Gangs of New York
08/19/03 Chicago
09/09/03 Sleeping Beauty
10/07/03 The Lion King - Platinum Edition
11/04/03 Finding Nemo same date as INDY!! an expensive november...
12/02/03 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
12/02/03 Walt Disney Treasures, Wave 3 (groovy )
01/27/04 Pocahontas - Special Edition
01/27/04 Alice in Wonderland - Special Edition
01/27/04 Lilo & Stitch - Special Edition (i hate disney for announcing that because i finally bought the 1 Disc version but I will order the 2 DVD Version, too. )
03/30/04 Brother Bear
08/17/04 Mary Poppins - Special Edition
09/14/04 Mulan 2 (I don't need part 2 but a Special Edition of the original would be cool)
10/05/04 Aladdin - Special Edition

Greetings
Phil

10/07/03 The Lion King - Platinum Edition
02/13/04 Lion King 1 1/2

will be? I can guess what it might be, but does anyone actually know?

The Lion King 1 1/2 is a new direct-to-video feature, which is a sort of retelling of the original film's events through Timon and Pumbaa.

There's some releases that interest me. But I'm dissappointed to see no more Power Rangers DVDs listed, though I doubt this is all thier releases... :p

Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins will be cool but they can go f@$# themselves with Lilo & Stitch -- I'm happy with the one-discer.

Cool, thank you.
Was hoping it wouldn't be an Xmen type thing, and glad it isn't.

That's why I never trust Disney They also did say that their first wave of releases would never me re released for 10 years.

Planned purchases from this list:
Chicago
Sleeping Beauty
Lion King Platinum
Finding Nemo
Pirates of the Caribbean-If it's good
Disney Treasures Wave 3
Pocahontas SE
Alice in Wonderland SE
Lilo & Stitch SE
Brother Bear
Haunted Mansion-If it's good
Mary Poppins SE
Aladdin Platinum

Santa will be giving Lilo & Stitch, Alice in Wonderland & Pochontas for Christmas & Mary Poppins later on to get rid of the 4 originals that I'll be double dipping on.

Edit: I'd love to pick up Spy Kids 3D on March 2nd if they'd release the first SK with the additional footage (shown in theaters & then left off the dvd). I'd prefer a box set but may end up picking all of them if by March a SK SE still hasn't been announced. OF course as soon as I buy SK 1 & 2 they will immediately announce a special edition box set.

Since I pretty much think Disney sucks, I'm only interested in two of those titles on the list, Gangs of New York and Mary Poppins. That Mary Poppins disc better be anamorphic widescreen.

Um, school. But for the record I *did* know about these before school, just didn't have time to post here and at the UltimateDisney Forum, and I chose to respond there first.

Anyway, i'll be picking up, and/or renting where marked, the following slew of discs from that list:

Quote:
08/19/03 Chicago
08/26/03 Stitch! The Movie - rental
09/09/03 Sleeping Beauty
10/07/03 The Lion King - Platinum Edition
11/04/03 Finding Nemo
11/11/03 Eloise at the Plaza - rental
11/18/03 Brother Bear Sing-Along-Song - rental
12/02/03 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
12/02/03 Walt Disney Treasures, Wave 3

01/27/04 Pocahontas - Special Edition
01/27/04 Alice in Wonderland - Special Edition
01/27/04 Lilo & Stitch - Special Edition
02/13/04 Lion King 1 1/2
03/02/04 Spy Kids 3D - only in a box set
03/30/04 Brother Bear
04/20/04 Haunted Mansion
08/03/04 Mickey's 3 Musketeers
08/17/04 Mary Poppins - Special Edition
08/31/04 The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride - Special Edition
10/05/04 Aladdin - Special Edition
11/09/04 Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas - rental
Hopefully the Pocahontas SE features a new SE cut of the film with If I Never Knew You restored as well as the theatrical cut via seamless branhing. If any movie in Disney's library needs a special edition, Pocahontas is it. They shouwed the If I Never Knew You sequence during a commercial break in a Wonderful World of Disney presentation of the film and it is easily the best scene (save MAYBE Colors of the Wind.) It was cut because the idiot kids in the test audiences found it boring. At the veery least I hope it's included as a deleted scene but I really want to see it back in the movie.

Nice to hear final confirmation on the double-disc Lilo & Stitch, too. I'll gladly double-dip. As for Pocahontas, Mary Poppins, and Alice in Wonderland, I never got the Gold Collection releases, so I'll just wait it out. If the less-than-exellently-regarded Pocahontas is getting a special edition, there's still hope for the double-disc Deluxe Edition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame that we were teased with. icon_smile.gif

That puts Finding Nemo day-and-date with Indiana Jokes - eek, this will be expensive!

It is odd, however, that both Holes and March's Platinum are not here. I'm still hoping this is legit and I haven't any reason to doubt that. And it seems Brother Bear will be taking a little faster turnaround to video than Treasure Planet did. I hope it doesn't affect the general public's wanting to see this in theaters, because WDFA needs a hit -- and a non-CG hit, too, to prove once and for all that 2D is not dead. Anyway, rant coming on, so I'll shut up now.

A nice list to choose from. It looks like a Lilo and Stitch 2-Disc is coming out after all. But some good Animated movies are coming which i really happy about. Plus some early summer movie releases too (Nemo and Pirates are coming out fast and no complaints here)
