Has anyone seen this series of samurai films and can comment on their quality and the quality of the dvds? Thanks.

Personally, I think they're wonderful. Not exactly on the level of Kurosawa's films, but they're great Saturday matinee stuff, full of action and pathos. The late Shintaro Katsu is excellent in these films. HVE has been doing a great job on the discs so far; extras are scant, but the picture and sound is pretty decent, and they went as far as providing Anamorphic widescreen transfers, which is admirable. Highly recommended.
