Aspect ratio for BIO ZOMBIE

I just ordered the DVD for the Asian zombie flick Bio Zombie failing to realize that it was fullframe. Was this movie shot in widescreen or open matte?

IMDb says 1.66:1, but it could be open matte. Even if it was pan & scanned, it's not that bad of a loss when it's 1.66:1.

From what I hear, the Hong Kong disc (I'm not clear as to if it's Region 0 or Region 3) is superior to the Mei Ah disc, including an alternate ending. But yet I can't find ANY information on the disc, so you might need to dig into it.

And reading reviews and looking through screenshots, it seems that it IS in widescreen. One review site even lists a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

The one I bought was produced/distributed by Tokyo Shock and looks like this:

Hm. Maybe it was the Mei Ah disc that was the good version? I seriously can't imagine a Mei Ah disc being actually GOOD though.

But then again Tokyo Shock has a very shoddy past as well (That is until the DTS 2 disc set of 'Versus' comes out. WOO!)

I heard that the Mei Ah disc is actually pretty good, so I bet you it's better than Tokyo Shock's. Like you, though, I have my doubts that a Mei Ah disc could actually be GOOD.
I looked on HKFlix, and it says both discs are Widescreen, so I dunno.

I finally saw the movie today. Here are my thoughts:
  • The DVD quality is not that great but slightly better than VHS
  • There's too much screaming; the way they scream when they're bickering with each other--especially between the lead character and whoever he's having a shouting match with--is annoying!
  • I thought Mrs. Kui was way hotter than Rolls
  • I liked the "video game" portion of the movie; it wasn't that funny, but it was great
  • The ending was okay but a little predictable. The final scene where
Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):
    they drank the "soda"
    was great!
