Dom-
I highly suggest you open it an listen to it. Some copies seem to be perfect, while others have that error, according to what I've been reading both here and on other DVD sites. Me, I'm very happy I ordered the Collector's Edition myself, they should have that error worked out by then ![]() Clortho ------------------ I am the Keymaster clortho@hotmail.com |

To receive or not to receive:
I am a rental library manager/owner in Fiji: It takes 3 weeks to arrive from Reel, anyday now. I paid $29, and I will be made to pay another $11 in import duty. Do I: not receive, not pay duty, send it back, wait for SE (which is planned, after selling this one as ex-rental) OR, receive, pay duty, test disc, send back, lose my $11...OR gee, sounding like Axe Murderer script. parcel also has To Sir With Love, which I don't want to send back - what to do? Would the disc from Reel be bad or not? Thanks - prefer email. |

Amazon told me to call Buena Vista yesterday and that they would replace any defective disks. I called this morning and Buena Vista gave me the complete run-around. They claimed there was a problem (which they could not describe) with a limited number of disks. Worse they tried to muddy the problem with the rear channel mix by bringing up the missing 0.1 track issue. I was told that there was no way to tell the bad pressing from the good one. It is unbelievable that they would change masters in the middle of pressing without changing the part number some how to identify the different copies. Since they supposedly pressed 700,000 copies this doesn't bode well for getting a good pressing.
Oh, I also checked around at DVDExpress told me they had sent their entire stock of Trazan back because too much of it was defective. [This message has been edited by howarth (edited 02-03-2000).] [This message has been edited by howarth (edited 02-03-2000).] |

When it comes to DVD, Disney never ceases to amaze me, and not in the good way...
It almost seems as if they're punishing the dvd audience for embracing a format of which they originally wanted no part. I mean, if the DVDs are good, people will buy them, it seems. Even box office and critical flops like Lost In Space sell decent numbers on DVD because they're so well made. Whereas Disney's policy seems to be: "We're going to do it half-assed, and if you don't buy it, we're not going to change policy and do it right; we just won't do it at all." Why else would you admit you made a defective disc, but make no effort to recall it? Even Anchor Bay made a recall on The Black Hole when they realized the sound was f-ed up (Ironically a Disney title originally, and does anyone know if the problem laid with Anchor Bay's mastering, or Disney's source materials? I'm just curious). The only rationale I can consider is that Disney used to make a nice chunk on each big-ass Collector's Edition Laser Disc they'd release, and they're miffed that they can't sell those $100 gift sets anymore. But it seems as if Warner, New Line and Sony figured out how to make a nice chunk of change on feature-laden DVDs for under-$30. You'd think that a company like Disney, that relies so much on a family-friendly image, would work harder to give parents some bang for their buck. And certainly, they should be quick to recall anything defective. It just makes me sad. I'm normally a sarcastic bastard, but this just sickens me, and I don't even want to joke about it anymore...this is one unhappy camper... |

Well, Dom, sorry to hear about that. But, that is what you get for even purchasing a Disney DVD. You really shoulda taken that blood oath and swore off all Disney DVD's like some of us did.
The Rock? He's still going strong and hasn't spent, nor will he spend, any of his money on Disney DVD's. They will never...and The Rock means never...get his hard earned dollars.
