How uncensored is uncensored? (clerks-animated)

Once again, Locke_ comes to ask why something is rated R. Since it was aired on TV, I'm thinking that the only reason the DVD is R is because of Jay's intros (we know how he is...). Is there anything in the show my parents wouldn't want me to see? Is it as bad as the movie (such as the part with all the porn titles, "snowballing," etc.)?

The show's pretty tame. A bit crude like most prime-time cartoons, but other than the intros and commentaries, there's nothing objectionable.

No, it's pure PG stuff, besides the intros, of course.

I agree with the others, the shows pretty tame except for the intros and commentaries (which IMO are not even that bad). And if you choose "Episode Index" instead of "Play all Episodes" then you won't even have to see the intros.

pure PG. I really don't think so. There was a good amount of racial stuff that may offend some (I'm surprised the NAACP didn't jump on this like GLAAD did with J&SBSB) not to mention the MEAN tone of the show. I love it. They played some of the show (2 episodes) on Comedy Central last week, and it was the episodes that aired on ABC

I guess some of the show's content is objectionable, but I doubt Locke's parents would care, unless they're ultra conservative...

It's network TV! Because of the censors, they had to be more creative with the humor, which is really why I'm not fond of the idea of the Clerks cartoon movie, or the family guy direct-to-dvd movie. No more network censor means they can do anything, which means less surrealism and more of the word 'fuck'.

...and boy, 'fuck' never gets old!

Heehee I bought the DVD today. I've watched the first three episodes. They're a riot. I giggle the whole way through. And the content in the shows themselves is really no worse than The Simpsons.

My favorite part about Kevin Smith is the extent he goes to in order to talk to his fans about anything with his name involved. He even wrote an article in Rolling Stone about superheroes.

I've got a question.... (out of curiousity.... in no way slamming you.... )

Your profile says that you're turning 17 next month.... are your parents actually giving you problems about "R" movies?

I hear it ALL the time (more times a day than in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), but I've made it a point not to say it purposely unless quoting something.

Well if that's your thing that's cool... I consider it just another word people put too much importance behind, but maybe that's cause of the crowd I hang with...

I don't curse because of spiritual beliefs. The only reason I would say anything is if you get me really upset. The only two words which people may find "curse" words are 'jackas' and 'dick'.

I have never seen JASBSB, but I am sure the language would get to me. I still want to see it though.

This reminds me of a week or so ago when I had dinner with my Father and his wife. We were having a discussion about politics and I said "Fucking Bush" or somesuch thing and his wife's head literally almost fucking exploded. Not used to hearing cuss words that woman...

The reason it's called "Clerks Uncensored" is because it presents the uncut episodes as originally intended to air. While the first (actually, the fourth) episode to air made it to TV without any cuts, the second episode has a big one: the "Flintstone's List" was edited to not show what Dante and Randal were actually watching. Other stuff, like Jay's use of the word "bong" would have been censored if they would have actually aired on ABC. The DVD is called "Clerks Uncensored" because it presents the uncensored original versions of each and every episode.

After I saw Pulp Fiction, my parents just gave up and figured I was mature enough to handle it since I didn't go out and rape any fat black guys afterwards.

Note: Of course, they are more leniant than I usually let on.
