A Nightmare On Elm Street dvd Situation

Here goes my first ever post in this forum!

I recently ordered the dvd of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street Film, along with a few others, and I've sent my money order and everything, but at dvdempire, where I placed this order, it said, "On Order, Will Ship When Stock Arrives".

I didn't think anything of this at the time, I've ordered a number of dvds in the past that were out of stock, and I've had no problems. But the thing is, this one seems to have been on order, out of stock a little too long, and the fact that the fist three movies in the series said On Order, Will Ship When Stock arrives has raised my concerns a bit.

What I'd really like to know is whether the Nightmare on Elm Street dvd has gone out of print or not. I haven't seen anything to support that theory, other than the time mine has been on order, but I have become a little paranoid about the matter maybe.

Any information on the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Its just my guess that they are probably hot sellers right now. I know I'm gonna have to watch all of my NOES discs to warm up for the new Freddy movie.

I really love how I was really too young to see any of the NOES films in the theater. But I did anyway. I saw Freddy's Dead when I was only 8 and lied to my parents and said I was going to see 101 Dalmations. But by 7th grade it was all good to go see New Nightmare. I hope to see Freddy hand Jason his ass this summer

I generally see the first three at Walmart for like 10 bucks each. Take a trip to your local Walmart to see if they have them, if they do pick 'em up and cancel your online order.

Damian is right. You can also get any of the Freddy films individually for $9.99 at Circuit City. Strangely enough Best Buy prices them at $19.99 each.

My appreciation to all of you who responded to this thread; just a few minutes ago, I recieved an email from dvdEmpire, telling me that my order, including the Nightmare on Elm Street dvd in question, has been shipped and will be here at my house in a matter of days! Yah!

Peace, out.

Special Edition LD with the much sort after deleted scenes etc. What can I say, now I have seen Elm street in a whole new light. We get to see that Tina, Rod, Nancy and Glen all had brothers and sisters that were the original victims to Fred Kruger before he was tracked down and burned.

We also see that Glens parents were involved with the killing of Fred Kruger. We also see Glens father talking to Nancy's father just after Glen was killed, saying that Fred Kruger was behind the killing.

You also see tons of other footage that never made it on to the dvd. The alternate endings were cool as well. It was well worth picking up a LD player just to see this. I cherish my copy.

I hear that Sid, it cost me a small fortune for the elm street disc, monster squad, and the frighteners.
Why I didn't buy these at the time, I do not know???

Glad of EBAY though, or I may never have got them

Damn, and I didn't even know about this uncut version! And with my finances like they are, I may never see these things. Why don't they just put all the uncut versions on dvd LIKE THEY SHOULD, so they could be properly enjoyed? I've been hearing about the uncut Friday the 13th movies forever, three days, and forty-five minutes now, and I've been hearing about all the extra footage in the Scream laserdisc that was conveniantly left off the dvd format even longer than that, and yet I have never, and may never, catch even a glimpse of this splender.

Oh the InHumanity!

Wow, I didn't know any of that stuff existed. I'd love to see it, but I've got everything into DVDs and am not going to start collecting LDs. Would be nice if they had put all those missing scenes on the DVD.

Don't worry too much about the extra footage on the Scream laserdisc. From what I remember it's not much more then a few shots that lost a few seconds longer then they did in the theatrical cut which include...

Spoiler (Highlight or Triple Click to Read):

Drew Barrymore's boyfriends guts spill out when he's killed at the beginning.
Drew hanging from the tree is a couple of seconds longer which allows you to see her guts hanging out but honestly if you blink you can miss it.
A couple of other kills that last a few seconds longer then they did in the theatrical version. All in all I think the total added screen time is about twenty seconds so you're not missing much.

Damn, all that stuff. Another LD which makes owning a laser disc player worthwhile.

Wow i remember that 2 disc LD set of Elm st. Didnt some werid studio like Live or ELite put that out and not new line for some strange reason though.

And DVDEMPIRE is werid like that with there deliverys. They dont forget about you but it can take a while sometimes for them to get restocked. WHat i hate about them is when they get new stock or discs from a new pressing they list it as a new release and dont list the original release date for the same version.
