Have any sites reviewed Black Hawk Down deluxe ed. yet?

I only know of a couple big DVD sites and haven't seen a comprehensive write-up on this one yet. Thank you.

reviews do indeed exist:

DVD Journal
DVD Authority
DVD Clinic

probably the best resource to find DVD reviews: http://www.dvd-basen.dk/uk/home.php3

I've got it...had it for over a week now. This has to be one of the best SE's out there. The 150 min documentary on the making of BHD is how they should all be done.

I also have it. It will take FOREVER to watch all the supplements, but it is indeed one of the best SE this year so far.

I never bought the original bare bones one and I doubt that I’ll get this one either.

I saw it in the theater and found the movie just to draining in terms of the constant gun battles. I realize that’s the whole story but they should have injected some side line story or broke away from the plot more often just to give the audience a breather.

i think that it was the purpose of the filmmakers to provide no breathers. i'm thrilled that this deluxe edition is finally out. the three commentaries could potentially be very good.

There's a nice breather from the firefighting when they jam their hands inside that guy's inner thigh in an attempt to grab his retracted femoral artery and clamp it shut.

Yeah, those constant gun battles have no place in a war movie!

I paid 29.99 for the set. It's the best dvd set I have ever seen. Better than LOTR:EE and Fight Club. Awesome set. It has a 150 minute making of for a 140 minute movie. Tons of extras, I highly recommend it.

Yeah, I've always planned on getting this release but was surprised at the price (can you say "sticker shock"? ).

I just placed my order on DeepDiscountDVD.com today.

Peace...

Yeah I was surprised too. I expected it to be around 20-25 bucks. But it's well worth the money for all the extras. I still can't get over the making of documentary. I wish every making of was this good.

Also has a cool History Channel special about the real black hawk down situation.

I haven't gone through every extra yet(it will take a few days) but so far so good.

I paid $24.99...and while this is a wonderful set, I wouldn't say it's better than the FOTR:EE set, but maybe that's just me.

Yeah to me the LOTR set is the only one that can be compared. Those are the top two sets I have ever seen.

Yeah, it may not be the extended FOTR, but this set is right up there in terms of bang for the buck. I can't wait to check out the doc on disc 2. If the packaging is right, it's longer than the movie itself!! And as long as we're giving props for extra content, Die another Day looks sick in the extras department too. I think I had a good day today

I picked it up for $24.99 at Target after I saw Best Buy had it for 29.99. So far I've just watched the deleted scenes and half of the Essence of Combat, and WOW. Definitely the best DVD I've seen (and I have watched the LOTR discs).Totally worth the wait. Damn I need to find the time to check out all the commentary tracks. I've seen the History Channel doc a couple of times on TV, so I know how good that is. Awesome stuff.

I've been watching the supplements for two days now and I must agree. WOW!. I got a real kick out of the 6 camera composite look at the Target Building Insertion sequence. That was awesome. I second the motion; why can't all SEs be like this?

Superbit

I've read the picture & sound on the disc are amazing but you know there will be a Superbit version eventually. Maybe it's better just to rent the SE and then buy the Superbit version when it comes out. Then again I don't have any fancy home theatre equipment so I probably won't notice the difference between the SE and the Superbit. I just like knowing that I have the absolute best picture & sound possible on DVD.

About the only real advantage of the Superbit will probably be the DTS track, since the transfer and DD track are already first rate. I'll take the SE for the extras and skip a still-hypothetical Superbit.

Besides, I haven't really been overwhelmed with the Superbit line.

I agree. It's just a marketing ploy to get you to spend more money. Any DVD set that has only the movie and the audio tracks on one disc and moves everything else to other discs is essentially 'superbit'. There is no need to charge an extra $10 when many non-superbit titles provide stunning picture.
'Superbit Deluxe' is the ultimate insult to our intelligence.

I would only consider buying a Superbit title if I LOVED the movie and the other versions really had subpar video. But I'd still be pissed about it.
