South Park Extras
So Season 1 had the commentaries (even though I really don't consider them extras, since they should have been in the set to begin with).
Season 2 has the unaired pilot episode.
Season 3? Is it to early to guess what extra will probably be included in this one? I'm hoping for "The Spirit Of Christmas" Has this ever been released at any time? As far as I know, it hasn't. From what I know it's Santa versus Jesus. I'm also really hoping they have commentaries, (my favorite special feature, along with trailers). By the way, what Season is South Park currently on? I stopped watching it a while ago when I cut my cable. One of the last episodes I remember watching is the "Simpsons Did It!" episode. |

We're on season 7 right now with the viewing schedule. I hope Season 3's out by the end of the years (maybe season 4?).
I've heard things about music rights issues on the original Spirit of Christmas shorts (there's two of 'em -- first, Jesus vs. Frosty, then Jesus vs. Santa) (I haven't seen the first one, but the second one is great and contains the origin of the "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" concept found in BLU). However, I think that could be worked around. I really hope we get some real quality extras as the DVD series goes on.

All in all, don't you think the "extras" in these season sets are extremely thin? First the cockup with the commentaries sucked, but there are a bunch of different things they could go into. Why are these sets being given the bare minimum treatment? Well, maybe not bare, but close to.

While I'm happy about the Season 2 set, and am happy that they included the "Goin' Down to South Park" documentary that was on that other disc, and that they included the "Chocolate Salty Balls" video that was on that other disc.
I'm a little upset that they didn't also include the "Behind the Menu" mockumentary about Chef and Chef Aid that was included on the Chef-themed DVD. I have that disc too, but once Season 3 is released, the only reason I will have to not sell that disc will be that feature...

About 1-2 years ago, they did an episode where the kids created a cartoon to raise funds - I think it was to help Mr. Hanky out. They recreated the Spirit of Christmas short. My guess: the season that contains that short will contain the original as a bonus or easter egg.
Let's hope they include both original versions. I have the more polished J vs. S, which I downloaded from the 'Net. I only saw the other, less polished version, at a Spike & Mike film festival years ago.

Season 3 will hopefully include the "Dead Friend" sketch (a tribute to Monty Python's classic "Dead Parrot" sketch). It would also be nice if they included some other features that haven't been released before. I'm counting on Warners to at least come up with one good new extra feature.
