Recent one that made me laugh was in Shooter when some dude in the white house mentions google maps puts Walhberg at so-and-so. He doesnt just say Walhberg is there, he says "Google maps places him so-and-so."

All the tapayers dollars gone to government intelligence and they use a free web service for navigational purposes

Not a movie, but...

Sony’s Playstation 3 (as well as the Sony game Heavenly Sword) in Heroes--a show owned and distributed by a studio with an exclusivity deal with HD DVD.

The terrible 1988 E.T. rip-off Mac & Me is notorious for the amount of product plugs in it, but to have the trailer open with an introduction by RONALD McDONALD?!

I'll add Resident Evil: Apocalypse into the mix. Everyone is using VAIO computers, and Erricson cell phones, oh yes...from Columbia Pictures. Owned by SONY!

I don't mind product placement when it serves the story. In fact, I find it distracting on movies/tv shows when people are eating/drinking/using some obviously non-existent product.

E.T. and the Reese's Pieces does not bother me. That is realistic. It would annoy me if Elliott was leading ET with "Tastee-Taste Chocolate Candy" or some made-up garbage.

In Back to the Future, the "Calvin Klein" thing is funny - implying that she thought his name was sewn into his underwear. It HAD to be recognizable to the audience as a brand name.

Minority Report? That doesn't bother me. I took it as a commentary on how ad-saturated we are and how ads are being customized and presented to us.

Those kinds of placements don't bother me. When it is a character obviously mugging a soda or something, that's annoying, yet if it were more subtle, it wouldn't bother me. I'd find it MORE distracting if a a character is shown drinking Dr. Generic than Dr. Pepper. I would immediately be taken out of the movie and would think: "Hmm. Guess they couldn't get permission to use Dr, Pepper." However, if the actor turns slowly to the camera, methodically revealing the logo to the camera - that is not good.

How about the entire first 2 Superman movies...I've only seen Superman 2 mentioned...the first film was rife with product placement...Cheerios, Timex, JVC, Coca Cola, etc...

i was just about to mention superman 1 and 2, the cheerios on the table in part one is so obvious, donner even jokes about it on the commentary, yeah and zod being flung into the coke sign in part 2 is also very distracting

still a pretty bad one would be casino royale where bond uses everything made by sony erikson, and camera makes it a pint to get the logo on film

How about Kit Kat in last nights episode of The Office. Sure it was hilarious, but it carried through most of the episode.

best part of that was that the word kit kat was never actually said, although dozens of other products were

the best was at the end "break me off a piece of that fancy feast"

Watching Raising Arizona again tonight reminded me of one of my favorite product plugs:

"I'm a-takin' these here Huggies, and, ah, whatever cash ya got."

Um, was that an episode of Smallville I watched tonight, or an hour-long ad for Stride gum?

Short Circuit had the Dr. Pepper and GMC product placements that were pretty blatant.
