Rate: A Man Apart(and Vin Diesel's career)
Ok so here's the good and abd of Vin Diesel's career(of the films I've seen)
GOOD -------- Saving Private Ryan Boiler Room The Knockaround Guys A Man Apart BAD ----- xXx The Fast and the Furious the bad movies are bad b/c of the horrible acting, and lack of character development. So, I went into A Man Apart thinking it was goign to be another cheesy xxx style action. But I was very pleasently suprised that it was a drama w/ a few action sequences. This movie and it's characters jsut felt very real to me, and I think Vin did a great job playing his character, I was wondering what you all thought

I think Vin Diesel has a good screen presence. I've enjoyed him in everything I've seen of his.

I like all of the movies that I've seen Vin Diesel in (only ones I haven't seen yet are Knockaround Guys and A Man Apart). He adds a blue-collar, tough guy presence that few Hollywood actors can pull off. He's made each film better because of the character and presence he brings to the screen.
If you replaced each role that he's played with someone else, each film would be far worse off. I think the first Fast and Furious movie would have been a train wreck without Vin. For those who've seen both Fast and Furious movies, which one is the better film? I haven't seen the sequel, so I can't compare them. Is the 2nd film better without Vin? Would it have been better or worse without Vin? I'd love to hear from someone who can give an opinion about 2 Fast 2 Furious, and whether the lack of Vin Diesel made the film better or worse.

Deisel does have a great screen presence, but thats all really. I mean and an action hero he has the look, and the voice, but he should stay FAR away from any fucking emotion.
Good: Saving Ryans Privates Boiler Room Pitch Black THE IRON GIANT!!! Bad: Everything else he has EVER done.

Guess I had never really followed much of his career before Fast & the Furious came out. It was not until after the fact that I saw some of the other movies he had done. I guess he can be touted as the "next action hero" as I think he fits a role like that well. I don't think he will ever take home any sort of award for his acting. I will continue to watch and enjoy his films for an entertainment value.

I've liked pretty much all of Vin's movies. My favorite being The Fast and the Furious. Boiler Room was a really good movie. Knockaround Guys was okay, nothing special. A Man Apart was decent. xXx was good pop corn film and The Iron Giant was great. Pitch Black was good. I have Saving Private Ryan but have yet to see it. So I've liked almost every movie he's done but I think he's overrated and should not be payed $20 Million a movie. A better suporting actor then lead actor.

I'll have to go opposite to most of you. I think he's enjoyable in bad movies becuase he can't act
Fast and the Furious - classic cheese "I live my life 1/4 mile at a time", "NOSSS!" XXX - that ridiculous jacket, the superman stretch when flying over the burning barn (ok, so credit wardrobe and stunts there) I can't say the same for the serious movies. Excepting Saving Private Ryan - but he was just playing a 6' tall muscled guy - doesn't take much range |
