Know any kick-ass movie?

I just recently watched "The Boondock Saints" and thought that it totally KICKED ASS . Today I went to the store and picked up "The Way Of The Gun" which looks like it's going to kick ass also. I also just ordered "The Transporter" which I had rented from BB and liked it enough to buy.

How about sharing your favorite "kick ass" movies so that I can go out and buy 'em? I like a lot of gun fights, car chases, and really bad guys..I don't really care too much for most of the Asian movies since they tend to overdo most gunfight scenes (John Woo's 'Hard Boiled' and 'The Killer' come to mind, even though both movies TOTALLY KICK ASS!). I'm looking for more "real life" type of movies, something that I can say "that can happen" (which might here in guntown, U.S.A. {San Antonio, TX})..

Oh yes, anybody that doesn't think William Defoe doesn't deserve somekind of recognition for his role in "Boondock Saints" should be shot. The man has amazing talent and he's totally underrated as an actor. I mean, god, watch "Platoon"......

If you want a kick ass car chase, go with the classic: The French Connection.

Hated it. Seemed like it was trying to be 'to cool'. Plus the fact that I can't stand Ryan Phillipe...but beside that, I really didn't like anything about it

The ORIGINAL "Gone In Sixty Seconds" (if it has Nic Cage on the cover, don't buy it, you're looking for the 1970s version.)

Kiss of the Dragon (Jet Li beats up the French. And it's from Luc Besson! If you liked "The Transporter" you'll love this.)

Aliens (Duh.)

Predator (Also duh.)

Commando (truly, gloriously, hilariously stupid. This was Joel Silver's bread and butter in the 80s; action movies that mocked themselves in a subtle way. It's also an amazingly efficient flick.)

True Lies (funny but also well-made, although some people don't like it so much after 9/11)

Master of the Flying Guillotine

A gunfight that I could watch over and over comes from 3000 Miles to Graceland with Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell, Christian Slater adn David Arquette, just to name a few. The casino scene is pure mayhem, as is the final scene when Ice-T shows up, the "final stand" of the film.

I've seen this (Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels) plenty of times at the used DVD shop for $10.99 but I never bothered to pick it up, thinking it was something not worth watching. Now I know better.

it just got a price drop recently. it's $15 CAD new here in Canada - so it should be less than that in the States.

how about Starship Troopers? It's my favorite kick-ass movie! No car chases but it's got big guns and really big bugs!
Oh but it's not "real life"

I was just watching a Jet Li/Michelle Yeoh movie called "Twin Warriors" on cable the other day. Holy shit! The action makes The Matrix Reloaded look like a kiddie film!
Oh, wait, you wanted "real". This wire-fu is anything BUT that.
Try "The Wild Bunch".

Die Hard with a Vengeance (the Bruce Willis/Sam Jackson interaction is a bonus to the big action)
well, actually any of the Die Hard movies rock

Bad Boys (and BB2 looks to follow the trend nicely)

Ronin (mixes "drama stuff" with hella cool car chases and gun fights)

Lethal Weapon movies

The Hire (BMW short films. That's all they are - car chases! And some of them even have good gunfire)

Really? Zombies and sword fights in the same movie? Now I'm interested. I just noticed that there is a prequel to this movie called "Down To Hell"..any good?

By the way, the movies don't have to be "believable" but there's just something about watching two Jet Li's fighting each other (both from different dimensions) that just doesn't cut it for me..

I'll second a vote for Equilibrium. That first action sequence (although it is a wee bit too short) levels just about every action sequence in both Matrix movies. Incredibly cool, even my wife liked it.

I don't think "Down to Hell" is a prequel, just a mini movie that the director did before "Versus" that they're slapping on the special edition DVD. However, the director is going back and filming scenes and re-editing 'Versus' into 'Versus 1.5' to edit out dialogue scenes and adding more fighting into it. (Though as far as I know, that's going to be a Japan-only release.

And I Love the cover art.

You weren't the only one who missed it. I didn't even hear about it until the DVD street date was announced. This is one of those movies along with another kick-ass movie that you should check out , Below, that Dimension decided to castrate when it came to the theatrical release. It boggles the mind, movies like this (which seem to have a relatively sizeable budget as well) get shafted while movies like fucking Kangaroo Jack get the royal media blitz treatment. Someone should have their nuts kicked up their ass.

I guess "Kangaroo Jack" was supposed to make more money since it's probably kid-oriented (I wouldn't know, I would never watch anything this stupid and I don't have kids ).
