Favorite robot?
We've all seen robots in films. Let's post our favorite. Now, I will go out on a limb and try to define robot so that we don't have people posting things like HAL or similar responses: make sure your robot moves in some way and has limbs of some kind. Oh, and I GUESS you can name more than just one seeing how it's pretty much impossible for people to do. Okay, here is mine:
that dumb silly robot at the beginning of Rocky IV. I despise this robot so much that I actually love her! The cheesiness emanates from this 'bot is too much that you gotta love her! Now, let's hear yours! I'm so proud being such a pathetic loser with no life.....to post another thread in a long line of continuing lame threads....yeehaw |

Thread of the week!
Okay, it's not a real robot but my favorite robot is Kyle MacLachlan's dancing impression of one!

It would have to be Bender. My runner up would be the robot from Heavy Metal.

Roy Batty (Blade Runner) - "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams ... glitter in the dark near Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ... to die." R2D2 (Star Wars) - Best non-speaking robot ever, its like he could actually convey emotion with his array of bleeps and bloops and his rocking around. Bishop (Aliens) Johnny 5 (Short Circuit) - "Johnny 5 is Alive!!" Servo & Crow (Mystery Science Theatre 3000)

Damn - I can only pick one?
When I read the topic, my first though was Futurama's Bender (after all he is sitting right her on my desk) so I'll stick with that.
But reading the thread, I kept saying to myself, oh yeah, him too, her too, oooo - I forgot about that one. So, the "I also liked..." list is long and documented herein. But Bender owns them all.

The Terminator - The Terminator In the original when he was a mindless killing machine. HAL 9000 - 2001: A Space Odyssey I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen. R2D2 - Star Wars I - VI The wittle mechanic that saves the day. Darth Vader - Star Wars IV - VI (if cyborgs count) One of the all time badass mo'fo's in the universe. Uber Soldat - Return to Castle Wolfenstein Manufactured in a secret Nazi laboratory, and they can shoot lightening from themselves, not much of a personality, but they do kick ass. RoboCop - RoboCop (if cyborgs count) From the 1st film only, when he did kick ass. Edward Scissorhands - Edward Scissorhands A respectable mean streak . . . and probably more. |
