Braveheart

I would like to know why Braveheart has not come out on DVD yet. I believe it to be one of the greatest movies of this decade. The effects, the sounds and the sights could be so profoundly stunning on DVD. I want the experience of the music playing, the bones crackling, and the swords clanging ringing in my ears after I finish watching it. I found it most enjoyable. If anyone can tell me why they can't produce this great movie on DVD please reply by email or on the forum.

I have no idea why they can't, but if "Titanic" is any indication, I sure hope they don't rush "Braveheart" out. They being Paramount, Icon, Mel, Randall Wallace or whomever. I'm willing to wait a little longer as long as they're definitely working on a bigtime anamorphic SE of the DVD.

Here's one guess... Heat takes up almost 3 hours, and barely had enough room for a french 5.1 track, english 5.1, and 3 trailers. All on a dual layer single side. Braveheart is an even longer movie, plus there are lots of scenes of lush fields and dynamic skies, which I've heard play havoc on mpeg compression. My hope is, they just put the entire anamorphic movie, audio tracks, and commentary tracks on one side and have the other side for featurettes, making of stuff or whatever. Sort of like Warner's LW4 (though I thought it was unnecessary for LW4 to do that).

We've just heard here in South Africa that Braveheart may be released in March 2000, by Fox who have the international rights to it. Ditto for ID4.

Whether this will materilize is a matter for debate, but it is a date that has been published, and apparently there's marketing material to this effect in the Zone 2 version of Titanic. Only problem is that Fox tend to overprice their DVDs. Just a little!!!!

Braveheart would be AWESOME on DVD. But, if Paramount is really smart, this disc should be in DTS! Hey, they fit Saving Private Ryan in DTS on one side. Why can't Paramount do the same thing!

ID4 will be released soon and Braveheart is in the pipeline. I would bet probably in the Fall 2000 along with Jurassic Park.

From what I understand, Braveheart was coming in early summer and was posponed for further work. Rumor is that Mel Gibson wanted to do some special things for the disc.
