Great news! I'll be poor by the end of the year but I'll be so happy I won't care.

I know this thing was supposed to be out a long time ago. I hate to say this but I will believe it when I have it in hand. But when I do don't bother me until I have watched it all with my father we both love this one.

Man, This is friggin' Sweeeet!! now I can finally ditch my ws laserdisc.
This is turning out to be a stellar year for Sergio Leone re-issues. 1st, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly restored (onAMC), then Once Upon A time in America uncut on dvd, now Once Upon a Time in the West. Now if we could get a dvd of the uncut Fistful of Dynamite, my Leone collection will be complete. anyone have any info on that ?

All I can say is it's about damn time!

I hope it will have an anamorphic video transfer.

Peace...

Right up there with Star Wars and Indiana Jones, OUATITW is also one of those "where the hell have they been?" DVDs that is finally making its way.

Amazon has it listed for only $13.99. I don't know if that's a mistake, because it seems extraordinarily low for a 2-disc set. (it's not the Collector's set though).

Nope, sadly there's no Bronson on the DVD, nor any Robards. But at least there is a short interview bit of Fonda (somewhere in the documentary) and Cardinale contributes to the commentary. All in all, the DVD is not heavy on extras but the picture transfer is BREATHTAKING. Assuming the R1 version will be identical to the R2 version, that is.

I am psyched that it is finally coming to DVD, but I really want the German set

I will never understand why the largest market for DVDs never gets much of the cool packaging of other countries.

I saw the UK r2 version this morning.

Looks very cool - like the German digi-pak above. The feel of it was like the "dusty" feel of the Fight Club "paper-bag" outer box, with the 2-disc digi inside.

I hope that Paramount keeps this theme through to the r1 issue, as it is gorgeous and very fitting for the film and the style of the art.

I'm waiting for the r1, as I can not stand the PAL speedup and pitch shift on anything.

Can't wait for this one...

Just bought it at my local dvd store, with the limited packaging (in English).

Sometimes living in R2 has positive sides
