According to the Universal Website CARLITO'S WAY (Anamorphic) is coming Sept 2nd. I guess to tie in with the SCARFACE re-issue.

Pleaseohpleaseohplease let there be a new Laurent Bouzereau documentary included...

And any word on the rumored Body Double SE? This is one of the few De Palma movies I've yet to see, but I'm holding off until I know for certain if a special edition is coming out.

Darn it, I caved in and bought the non-anamorphic version only a few months ago. Oh well, an SE is better than no SE...

Penelope Ann Miller is a goddess.

A Carlito's Way SE is fantastic news. I too am hoping the rumoured Body Double SE would come along as well.... but for now Sept 2 will be a good day for De Palma fans. Great news, thanks for sharing. Kudos to Universal for momentaruly redemming themselves from being my least favourite studio on DVD.

Whoa, this discussion just jumped from talk of this being Anamorphic to talk of a Special Edition for Carlito's Way. Where did you see that it's a SE?

It's not your fault. When you just have to see Penelope Ann Miller naked in what has to be the best damn nude scene ever filmed, judgment can sometimes be impaired.

Universal will probably throw a EPK on it like they did with SNEAKERS and call it a Collector's Edition.

Damn straight. How I've held out this long, I don't know, but it is one of the best ever. I look forward to replacing my old VHS in September.

Doubtful. Most of De Palma's movies released on DVD within the last two years have been given excellent new retrospective documentaries by Laurent Bouzereau, and rumors of a full-fledged SE of the film have been circling for over a year. And this fall will mark the film's 10-year anniversary (as well as Scarface's 20th). I doubt we'll just get some moldy old five-minute EPK.

And I still think that the doc on the Sneakers disc was pretty damn good, with some new interview material with the director and writers mixed in with some old cast sound bites. Much better than I was expecting.

Geez, I wished I'd clicked on this thread sooner! I haven't seen this movie forever, but I will own the DVD for sure. I'm much more excited about this one than Scarface.

Wow, I was actually going to pick this up on Tuesday but Best Buy didn't have any copies, thankfully. It's been on my list forever, I'm glad there's a new version.
