New Star Trek DVDs?

Any word on when Star Trek V, VI and Generations are slated to be reissued in special editions? It seems to be taking forever.

I'm still pissed that Paramount didn't let Shatner go back and do a special director's edition on ST5. If any Trek film needed to get cleaned up, it was Final Frontier.

As for Generations, I would hope to see a lot of the deleted footage. I'm not holding my breath though.

I was hoping to have 5 by the end of the summer, with 6 by the end of the year. Since I've heard nothing, it looks like it ain't happening.

Apparently all 3 are slated for SE's.

Star Trek V should be out in the fall, and Star Trek VI sometime in 2004. No idea about Generations, but I read somewhere that work is being done on featurettes that will be included on a 'future' release of the movie.

Trekweb.com has had stories about the featurettes for Generations. I'm a little annoyed with them. Them being Paramount. I'm annoyed because one of the featurettes is about Matt Jeffries, who designed the original Enterprise. Now, I'm glad that he gets his own featurette. But it bothers me that they're throwing this on a Generations special edition. TOS deserves its own special edition and that is where the Jeffries featurette belongs.

Do you think that Nemesis will get an official "Special Edition" after Insurrection gets one like the rest or is the one just released the definitive edition?

Are they planning to give every Star Trek film a SE?

Looks that way. 5 has been announced. 6 is on the way early next year. Presumably the NextGen films will follow in '04 and '05 but nothing official.

Generations SE has already had supplement info leak out, in the form of an interview with Matt Jeffries.

Boy, the specs for ST5 sound pretty good. I was really bitter about the movie not getting a director's edition, but those specs sound real nice. Too bad we couldn't get Nimoy in on the commentary. Still, Shatner is always a good listen. His speaking style is more enthusiastic than the low-key Nimoy.

I am still waiting until they reach X: Nemesis and then I'll go for the box set.

Unless they do a 1-6 box and then a Next Gen set from 7-10.

That's probably what I'll do too.
