Schizopolis Criterion news

From the Criterion home page:

Quote:
Soderbergh to Interview Soderbergh for Schizopolis

An audio commentary featuring esteemed director Steven Soderbergh interviewing esteemed director Steven Soderbergh will appear on Criterion's upcoming DVD edition of his 1996 smash hit, Schizopolis. In the interview, Soderbergh discusses his meteoric rise to fame and his continued vitality and importance in the world of contemporary cinema. Look for Criterion’s Schizopolis this fall.
Neat.

"Smash hit"- heh!

That should be a real treat. I'm really looking forward to this DVD. I look forward to the reactions of those who buy it just based on Soderberg's more popular films....

That is funny!

I certainly hope that this may usher in a good quality (Criterion?) disc of Kafka. Pretty please? Anyone?

Ha! Smash hit my hind end. But i'm sure they're using it in the ironic way. Just when i was thinking, after watching my tape of it; "I bet this will NEVER be on DVD", Criterion goes and announces it. What a great company. And Soderbergh interviewing Soderbergh (or is that a commentary?) sounds great. I can't wait to hear him try to explain that movie! An instant purchase.

BTW, i used some of it for my answering machine message:

"You're two creative and intense house plants house plants I can see that, I can see that....I'm talking about...perception, and communication skillllzzzzzzzz houseplant! Leave a message!"....beep....

I was sort of one of those people. I bought a VHS copy of Schizopolis because I had seen most of his later stuff, but wanted to see something from when no one knew who he was. I knew I wasn't going to be in for Erin Brockovich, but I was still taken completely off-guard. I know most of my friends would probably hate this movie, which makes me want to show it to them, a la Soggy and Audition.

Well, even before he was huge in Hollywood from the successes of "Out of Sight", "The Limey", "Erin Brockovich", and "Traffic", he was still fairly well known, due to the phenomenal sleeper success of "Sex, Lies, and Videotape". The film received much praise at Cannes, and Soderbergh became the youngest person to ever win the Palme D'or.

...and of course, I'm always in support of some "Audition"-style mischief

Could someone give me a run down on this film? I can never find a copy to rent. I like Soderbergh's work that I've seen, yes even Full Frontal

Thanks

I second that... I can still remember seeing this on the big screen, which made the "visual effect" all that more impressive.

It would be nice to have this on DVD, even if it isn't a Criterion release.
