any Canadians ever deal with Deepdiscountdvd

Just placed my first order with them. How are they as far as orders? Fast, good packaging, etc. The prices and selection are decent.

Yes I've dealt with them. I ordered the Metallica Box Set 4 weeks ago and still have not received it. I contacted customer service and they told me to contact the customs office. Please let me know how your order goes.

I ordered 'L'Atalante' from them a couple of months ago. Shipped out about three/four days after I ordered it. My credit card was charged when the disc shipped and I received it in the usual 10-14 days.

Since it was under $20 I didn't get charged customs. I cannot remember much about the packaging, but the disc and case were both in great shape so I assume it was packaged adequately.

All in all a simple transaction with no bumps or bruises.

Got two packages from them and both packages were dinged with custom fees.

I hate hate hate when that happens. I've seen it before. Oh, well...if I get screwed too badly I won't deal with them again.

Well it looks like I spoke to soon. I just got a note in the mail saying there is a package for me at the post office. I'm not expecting anything else so it should be the box set, the bad news is I have to pay $12.18 to get it. Fortunately even with paying duty I still end up saving $30.

I will never shop at deepdiscountdvd ever again. I didn't like their service at all. I'm sticking with amazon.ca or futureshop.ca

OMG, I wish I had seen this thread before I made my order.

I'm also in Canada. I made the order on the 13th august. They shipped it on the 15th august (my credit has been charged).

Shipping Method: 2 - 5 BUSINESS DAY DELIVERY
Estimated Arrival date: 8/17/03 - 8/20/03

However today's mail 8/22/03 came and there's still no package which is already 2 days longer than what they said. Maybe it's too early to panic, but I hope I recieve it very soon. And I'm not sure I understand some of the other posts, but are their any other additional charges that come with the package, other then the ones charged on my credit card?

It usually takes around 14 days for packages from the US to arrive at my door (I live on the east coast). I generally find that if I do not have them after 21 days something has gone wrong. Most US retailers will ask you to give it a month before starting to press the panic button. I have never received a package in less than 10 days (unless it was sent FedEx).

As for additional charges, depending on the value of your order you may be charged customs fees. I am not sure how they work out the amount charged.

Thanks. In that case, they shouldn't say 2-5 days, they probably say it in order to make people buy more. So I guess I should not expect it until sometime next week.

My package isn't expensive, the dvd that I bought is 9.36$ + 4.95$ shipping for a total of 14.31$. I really hope they won't charge me something additional.

I may be mistaken but I think a package has to contain merchandise valued at over $20 to be charged a customs fee. I ordered a $15 disc from deepdiscount and was not charged, so you are probably safe.

I agree that they should not state that the package will take 3-5 days. I think the stated method of shipping may take that amount of time when sent within the US, which may explain why it is listed as such.

I've dealt with them in Feb. I got the Ring and Road to Perdition. I paid like 45$ for both(at the time it was the same price as in stores) to avoid the freakin' bilingual packaging . I ordered Bowling for Columbine from them 2 days ago and i figure i'll pay a little over 30$cdn. As for the shipping last time it took like 3-4 days to receive my movies.** Knock on wood** i get my order by next week.
