and yet another crappily drab cover.

where the hell do these studios hire their designers??

it's like they've got Ray Charles and Roy Orbison running the art department, with Stevie Wonder fetching the coffee.

ugh... time to start on a custom cover

Unicorn you rule!

I kinda like the cover better than any of the 3 'pick the covers' It's so nice to see Warner Releasing it Amaray! But I too will be holding out for the boxed set.

Hmmm...it would be nice to hold out, but I'm not sure of the advantage since I already have MATRIX and MATRIX REVISITED. I'll probably get it in October. I suck at waiting.:p

seems kind of thin... not much more then the original Matrix, which was on one disc. Where is this info from?

At the bits they posted some different artwork, but same date.

really? I thought it was better than the original in many aspects, except that it was less dark in tone.

In this case though, it'll be three snappers (Animatrix, Matrix, Revisited) and an amaray. I was actually kind of hoping they'd put it in a snapper.

Yeah, I wasn't let down by Reloaded. When I was watching I actually had that tinge of excitement in my stomach when the "good guys" were winning... and that doesn't happen to me that often anymore.

Sound's good to be. I was expecting more features, really no need for a two disc set, IMO. The cover art is not bad. Can't wait to pick this one up. Anyword if we get a free ticket to "Revolutions" with the set? That would be kick ass!

I dunno, I am not impressed by the list of extras, just seems to make it certain to me that there will be a more extensive special edition down the road, probably the form of the box set. So if I ever do pick up these movies, then it will be in that. Maybe with the Animatrix included in the set?

actually the Freeway chase feature is all the extras I need (although some TV spots would be cool ...yes, I like them) I don't know, but I've really become tired of commentaries lately except for Criterion ones done by film experts...like the ones heard on SPELLBOUND and STRAW DOGS. Most of the director ones, unless I hear they're great...I pass.

Yeah we have a date. I guess the guy at IGNDVD was right and does have a true source on the Matrix stuff. He said about a week and a half ago that it would appear in the good Amaray case (Silver and The Bros requested them to use the cases from Fan Feedback.) I hope for a commentary as well on the dvd. I haven't listened to many but i really liked the movie and would be cool to get some insight on their vision of this Matrix World. Too bad there is no DTS track and or a Dolby Digital EX track. (oh i get it, if we have the equipment they want us to "Matrix" the EX track)

Well on a side note i shall mention again (since he was right the first time) That T2: Rise of the Machine sis also scheduled to be a 2-disc Amaray cased DVD.

am actually a little disappointed if these are the extras..
PRELOAD: Go behind the scenes with the cast and crew
THE FREEWAY CHASE: Anatomy of the mind-blowing scene
Looks like fluff to me!
And what this:
ENTER THE MATRIX: Making of the ground-breaking video game
WHAT IS THE ANIMATRIX?
I have the Animatrix!!!And the video game thing is on there!!!
No commentary, deleted scenes ( I was hoping that the scenes from the video game would be the disc..maybe as an easter egg )and no preview for Revolutions!??
The keep case is nice, but I have a felling this will be re-released. Maybe I will wait for that!

Guys, the official announcement is Monday. They could very well be holding back info until then. So there may indeed be more extras that what I posted.

We'll find out tomorrow, eh?

Actually, I think these two extras will be quite good! I'm sure these will last at least 2 hours.
PRELOAD seems like it's gonna be a making of like the one in "The Matrix Revisited" (from pre-production to post-production). CAN'T WAIT to see that!!!

Heres a better picture with decent quality of the dvd:

www.dvdanswers.com

I read on another forum that the dvd will be anamorphic Widescreen / 1.33:1 Standard and not 2:35

There will be separate releases: 1.33:1 Fullscreen and 2.35:1 Widescreen. Pictured is the case for the Widescreen release, as you can plainly read at the top.

I actually prefer the cover art that they are going to use over any of the ones posted in the "HELP WB DECIDE" thread.

It would be the best if all the covers for all three movies and the animatrix were similar somehow (maybe when they release a boxset)

I'm picking it up just for the movie: the extras are irrelevant. Although I'm very pleased to hear it's coming in an amaray case. That just sweetens everything for me.

I'll wait for the boxset, I'll wait for the boxset...

For god's sake - WHY will you wait for the box set if you are a fan of the film?

The reality is that first week will find it for sale around US$17.99 (or less) at Best Buy and Circuit City. When the box set is announced - and I'm guessing Christmas 2004 will see a 7 disk "What Is The Matrix? Ultimate Box Set" for $69.95 - you take your Reloaded disks to Movie Exchange (or whatever your local used DVD place is) and get $6-$8 for it. Now your net cost is somewhere around $11.

$11.

What the hell else are you going to do with $11? Take your SO to McDonalds for lunch? Fill up your gas tank half way? Buy a single movie ticket and a small Coke? Pick up the "Drop Dead Fred" DVD to watch once and file because you always had a thing for Phoebe Cates?

Or - do you enjoy Matrix:Reloaded for 8 months, sell it, then eagerly await the super sexed up version to add to your permanent collection.

I'll be buying both this in October and then Revolutions next May (again I'm guessing, no insider info here), selling them both in September and picking up the box set to keep forever.

Plus - I'll be buying "Drop Dead Fred" as long as it's not full screen. Phoebe Cates is damn cute in it.
