Commentary track on The Limey

What's up with the flimmaker commentary on The Limey? There are two false starts at the beginning, and when the movie gets around to those intial scenes in Peter Fonda's house, there's this wierd echo-effect. It's almost as if they're trying to make the commentary track gel with the "disjointed" feel of the movie itself... does anyone know what happened?

That's kind of disturbing. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, so I don't know if it's something common to all copies.

I have the dvd and am confused by the commentary tracks as well. I haven't listened too much of either one but the beginnings are wierd and disjointed - it's not clear to me whether or not they coincide with the scene. Also wierd: with the english subtitles on at the beginning you'll see that they aren't really subtitles but display the names of the person speaking on the commentary track!

Considering the fact that this movie is out on DVD, I think it's safe to assume that this topic is more appropriate in the "Software" area than "now playing"
Moving it there.

Django- Those names are only present when you play the 60's Docu-Drama track...If you restart the disc selecting the Dolby audio track, thoe will disappear, and your subtitles should be OK...

The key is to make audio track selections from the menu, not by using your audio button.

most of the first commentary track with lem dobbs & steven soderbergh is screen specific, but a couple of times comments overlap one another and go a bit echoey. this is an attempt (i presume) to give the commentary a bit of a 'funky' feel, like the film which jumps around in time a lot. it's a bit gimmicky but does fit the feel of the film and overall the commentary is pretty good. there are some good insights into the making of the film, escpecially with dobbs' comments about some of the material soderbergh cut from the film, which is a lot more refreshingly honest then some of the comments made on audio tracks these days.
