What film have you seen on Tv, that you want to own ?

For some reason, the movie channels, are for me, one way I see a movie for a "first time", NOT in a theater. Some movies, I just don't want to see in a theater, but for some reason are more appealing on Tv...if it's not in unedited form on a movie channel, it's the truncated presentation on TNT, TBS, or FX.

Lately, there are two such movies...."Chaplin" with Robert Downey, Jr., "Simone" with Al Pacino, "Pay It Forward", and "Primary Colors" directed by Mike Nicols and starring John Travolta.

How about you ?

I'm viewing "Cannery Row" with Nick Nolte and Debra Winger, on Encore.

Stunning cinematography, and slightly offbeat story line, totally made in the studio.

Wish it was on DVD, though.

Yes.. Cannery Row!

Also "The Three Faces of Eve," and "The Winter of Our Discontent." I don't think they are on DVD, either.

The OTHER great Dennis Weaver TV movie :)

Wasn't the Donald Sutherland TV movie "Winter of Our Discontent" made into a movie-only DVD a couple of months back?

But since we're on the subject of TV movies, I nominate the OTHER great Dennis Weaver TV movie:

The Ordeal of Dr. Mudd (1980)

The Wicked Life of Paula Schultz

Filmed during the summer hiatus of Hogan's Heroes, it starred Elke Summer, Bob Crane, Werner Klemperer, John Banner, & Leon Askin. I've seen it on Encore a few times & it's quite stupid but very amusing.

Before I read the posts, I had one made for tv movie in mind, another Dennis Weaver film with Kurt Russell and Mare Winningham called "Amber Waves". And speaking of Kurt Russell, John Carpenter's "Elvis". Two great films.

The only one I can think of is Blood Simple. TNN had a special presentation of it one night last year and I thought it was fantastic. I'll probably be getting it soon since my mission as of late is to collect all of the Coen Bros. movies on DVD.

That is one strange little film, but so are the Coen Brothers.
