Blade Runner Special Edition any time soon? - DVDfile.com forum for DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD

Hi Im new here so this question has probably been asked in the past sorry. But I have been wanting Blade Runner on DVD forever and have been hearing rumors of a Blade Runner SE for years! Is it coming out anytime soon like this year or still not for a long time? Im seriously thinking of just getting the old Bare Bones Directors Cut DVD from Columbiahouse if it will still be a while but if its coming out soon Ill just wait. So any news on a SE soon or is it still a long ways off??

No new news sorry, although if it was to come out this year it would be on September 2nd.

I have the original disc. It's a disaster. The transfer is one of the worst in my collection. I'd wait if I were you.

This comes up every two or three months, or so it seems. The short answer, if you check the weblink given, has been the same for quite a while: don't hold your breath.

True, it is pretty hard to look at. But you have to cut it a little slack considering that this was a DVD launch title for Warner. And it's anamorphic, which was rare for a launch title. I wouldn't buy this for anymore than 8 dollars, but since the SE looks like it's a probably going to be a while it's all we got. 8 dollars would probably cover the cost of few rentals. Oh and as bad as the transfer may seem by today's standards, it's still a million miles above VHS.

Have I ever mentioned that this is my absolute favorite movie?

Agreed. For eight bucks it would be a fine deal. It's one of the first discs I ever bought. It's better than VHS but that red color shifting bugs the crap out of me. Looks like a red dropshadow in some scenes. Really distracting.

Thanks for the info everyone and the link to that blade runner site. Wow yea seems it has been in the works forever! Hope someday it finally does come out. Blade Runner is also one of my fav movies so If i see a good deal for the Bare Bones DVD version I think I may get it in the meantime. Thanks for the info!
