Which car chase scene?

Of this summer's 'blockbusters' my favourite is Matrix Reloaded's car chase sequence (despite some continuity errors).

Which was yours?

I haven't seen Bad Boys 2 yet, so of the other ones I'd have to give the nod to T3. That's not taking anything away from Matrix: Reloaded either. They were both visually exciting.

The opening scene in "Transporter." Very cool.

The Matrix one went on for too long and got repetitive. I haven't seen the others yet.

Bad Boys 2 was the most fun. Not quite as clever as The Matrix: Reloaded sequence, but it was just more balls out fun. I like the one in T3 also, but BB2 was a hair better.

Considering this poll specifies three films only in theaters, shouldn't this be moved to "Now Playing"?

T3 by a hair, its just that Reloaded had way too much slow motion going on and it began to bug me but it was a visually and sonically exciting experience nonthenless.

Since that "other" category is in the poll, I think software will be just fine for this thread.

If we're just voting on car chase scenes from this summer, then I vote for The Matrix Reloaded.

If you want to go all-time, then I would have to vote "Other" since I love the car chase scene at the end of The Blues Brothers.

I second Ronin. Nothing beats sticking the actors in there for real and watching their faces.

Well, that's pretty darn specious a justification. I mean, really, 3 now-playing movies and "other" qualifies as a DVD topic? It's pretty vague for a choice poll. *shrug* You could've just said you didn't feel like moving it, but okay, whatever floats your boat.

I third Ronin!

But of those more recent films, I'd say T3. That's the one that really made me smile. I loved seeing Arnold get smashed around like that, and the sound of that hook creaking. The one in Reloaded was cool, but it felt too fake and confined to me. I haven't seen Bad Boys 2.

The Italian Job from this summer. Bullitt - classic car chase.

I was gonna say Ronin as an addition, but its just that it was too short if it would have been longer im sure i would vote it as one of the best car chases ever.

Matrix Reloaded definitely takes the cake in this category. But T3 isn't very far behind.

So far, Ronin, Blues Brothers and Bullitt have been mentioned. This seemed like a topic that was going to transcend films still at theaters...and THAT is why I left it. Please pm me if you still want to talk about it.

Though I haven't seen the Matrix Re Loaded chase, I would have to say "Bad Boys 2" and "The Rock", make "Bullitt" et al, verrrrrry dated.

I will give the "Bullitt", ""French Connection 1", "Beverly Hills Cop 1&2", "Tango And Cash", and the entire "Lethal Weapon" series of film car chases, very high marks, for Technique, and maintaining the integrity of the chase to the film reality, of the script.

But for shear excess and stun level, Bruckheimer and Bay's chases bring the concept to a higher level, for Scope, and Imagination. These chases take us BEYOND our reality, and more "into" the film's world of reality...
these filmmakers know how to draw us in to the screen of the movie, more than any filmmaker has, to date.

For me, this is what film is supposed to do, no matter how absurd it may look.

My vote went towards The Matrix Reloaded. I thought the action and soem of the camera swoops and stuff were great. T3 was pretty close but it was mostly for some cool explosions and not pure action/chase like Matrix.

Other to mention would be Ronin and The Bourne Identity.

My apologies SeanL, my intention for "Other" was for other films released at the cinema this year. I should have been more specific.

I think though that people's various responses that include older titles have probably made the thread more interesting.

Sorry for any confusion.

Ronin has a great car chase. Also the chase in The Rock is pretty cool with the Humvee and Ferrari.

A little reach back into time...

For sheer visceral thrills of a non-effects, great car chase you have to look at The French Connection and Bullitt. A little more modern, and probably the best part of the movie is the car chase in Ronin.

I'm really surprised that NOBODY has mentioned the incredible truck chase in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's one of my all-time favorite chases EVER.

My favorite car chase scene is still the wonderful, serene, and well filmed beginning to Wong Kar-Wai's short for BMW Films, 'The Follow'.
The car chases in Matrix Reloaded and Ronin were kind of forgettable for me.
