What Did I Miss in "My Dinner with Andre?"
Siskel and Ebert LOVED this 20-year-old movie and I saw it at the theater, and REALLY tried to enjoy it but just got lost. There were a couple of engaging bits of dialogue, and I knew that the entire movie was a dinner conversation (that's not a spoiler is it?), but there just wasn't any emotional chord struck with me. Ebert still has this movie listed on his favorite movies list.
Am I really a ghoul without a soul (to paraphrase an ex-girlfriend), or did anyone else here see this movie and also feel like someone in the crowd watching the parade of the emperor with no clothes?
