Confirmed 2004 Releases

Guys:

I know it's early, but I find myself guessing about what some of the big releases will be for 2004.

At this point, with the Indiana Jones trilogy out, I think the only big unreleased movies on DVD will be the original Star Wars trilogy, which we all know about

What I know is coming out:

Star Trek: Voyager
Aladdin
Star Trek 6
Pocahontas special edition
Lilo and Stitch special edition

[b]aAladdin and the King of Thieves
Aladdin and the Return of Jafar

I might guess that the Last Unicorn might finally come out from WB, considering all the responses I read on it from Amazon.

What do you guys know has been confirmed for 2004?

Sincerely,

JThree

I'd say that Schindler's List is an important film that still needs a DVD release.

If Seinfeld comes out on DVD...I'd cry.

* heads over to the "DVD's that make you cry" thread *

Also, I'd love a Lilo and Stitch Special Edition. Even though I have the original on DVD

Actulally, I'm thinking that the special editions of the Aladdin cheapquels will probably be 2005 releases.

Reasons? One, they weren't on that rumored release schedule from a while back. Two, I'm really expecting Disney to go the Lion King route and stagger the releases so they're not right next to the original. Example, the new Lion King 1.5 midquel is due in February 2004, not anywhere near the October 2003 date for the original movie, and Simba's Pride won't get a special edition reissue until August 2004, if you believe that schedule. I read an article about this a while ago and a Disney rep said they think that the entire property is stronger than any one single entity, which is why they're puting so much time betweeen the release of The Lion King and the Lion King sequels. I think this is a really, really stupid move. The cheapquels sell, I'll admit that, and Lion King's cheapquel is the best one they've ever done so much so that I don't like using the term cheapquel to refer to it. But I still think that it would be a lot smarter and they'd sell a lot more if they were available alongside the originals.

Can we please get Artisan to release TWIN PEAKS season 2. I don't if its bare bones in dolby surround this time...just release the damn thing. The LD's from Image are showing signs of rot. Minor rot, but still rot. I only have up until the fantastic Lynch episode where Laura's killer is revealed.

Also, I know it isn't a major release, but I'd like to see MGM give ZAPPED! its day on DVD.

That's all kids.

Hmmmm....

I wonder how long the studios are going to wait to release the next seasons of "Cheers," "Frasier" and "All In the Family."

Don't forget the super-deluxe Lord of the Rings gift pack, featuring the Return of the King Extended Edition in a special gift set (Sauron sculpture included, anyone?). Coming in November 2004.

Schindler's List as someone said.

I predict that Duel will be scheduled and delayed three times in 2004, finally to be released in '05 as a Special 3-disk Eh, We Were Just Fuckin' With Ya edition.

I'm hoping for Spielberg's The Sugarland Express to be released sometime next year, along with Duel and Schindler's List (which I thought was scheduled for a February release...?).

I just hope we'll get full seasons, instead of the "best-of" Spin City set that's coming out.

Guys:

Can we continue on with this thread a little longer.

I'm pretty sure there will be seasons four and five of Babylon 5 coming out.

I think there's a strong possibility that King Kong might make it out?

Do you guys have any ideas when the studios might put out more news of their 2004 confirmed releases.

Remember 2004 is only five months away and less.

I'm just curious...try www.hollywoodbitchslap.com -- that's where we (well, most of us at least) get our release information.

Dear Morticia:

I'm sorry I didn't mean to cause any problems. It's just that sometimes hearing from others, helps jog the memories about things I've forgotten.

And sometimes I may have missed a website.

Sometimes thinking about current trends help me "guess" what else might possibly come out. Like if Buffy, Angel, and Forever Knight are coming out, might mean that Kolchak: the Night Stalker could come out.

Sincerely,

JThree

Oh, I wouldn't be putting any bets on Kolchak.

It *might* come out, but I wouldn't place any bets on it.
