What's up with Cronenberg's "Brood"?

I have looked everywhere for The Brood which was supposed to have been released this past Tuesday. MGM's site says it's currently unavailable. Wonder what's going on?

I preordered mine from Deepdiscountdvd and received it yesterday.

It could be one of these two reasons -- A) It was pulled prior to street like Swamp Thing, allowing a couple to trickle out (but very unlikely). Or B) It sold way more than they anticipated and are trying to meet demand (probably the case.)

I've had a very hard time finding it as well.
Sometimes it's just luck as to whether your local retailer gets copies in right away, especially with a less popular catalogue title like this.
But I loves my Cronenberg, and I want this now!

Well, the online retailers are still listing it as 'available to ship.' ($9.12 on deepdiscountdvd.)

Shit, I got mine Tuesday morning. I've seen it all over. By the way folks, the theatrical trailer for the Brood is FANTASTIC. There's no insert, as expected, however. Now I know that Clownhouse was the only MGM title that was delayed/deleted, for whatever reason, I don't know.

And I'm gonna say it again, the trailer is FANTASTIC!!!

So call the kids in the living room, and watch it together.

Let 'em know that this what happens to kids who don't eat their veggies.

I remember seeing this movie on HBO or Cinemax all the time when I was younger. I need to rent this! Not sure if it is a buy though.

I too have had trouble finding "The Brood" as well. Oh, and "Clownhouse" is not cancelled, it has just been delayed until 2004. That came direct from MGM (but they never said why!).

I also really loved "The Brood". After seeing another early Cronenberg horror film, "Shivers", and being very disappointed by it, I was not expecting too much from "The Brood". I was, however, quite pleasantly surprised to find a very well-done affective horror film. I love all the drab Fall colors in it, they work very nicely for the film.

I haven't yet tried to find a copy, however.

Got mine this past Monday. The transfer is decent and Howard Shore's score is really present. A great buy for Cronenberg fans who know the story behind the flick...
