Treehouse Of Horror

For those of you that are picking this disc up, can you give me a couple of reasons why. Especially if you have been collecting the Season box sets.

I'm avoiding this and the Christmas disc for the same reason why I dumped my old South Park singles when the season boxes arrived. But if I am missing some great special feature, I'd love to know.

Thanks!

I think the big reason would be not having to wait on extremely slow arriving season sets. Holiday collections are nice because you can just plop it in at the holiday and watch it straight through.

I just can't help but to see it as a way for Fox to profit via a convenience to a situation that they are responsible for making inconvenient in the first place.

I have 2 reason:

1) I like the idea of a couple of hours of themed episodes to watch at family get-togethers

and

2) some of the episodes on these 2 sets will not be available in season sets for almost a decade (if they continue at their current pace), and I haven't seen a single Simpsons episode since Season 3, so anything new than that will be all-new to me.

Why I'll be buying The Treehouse of Horrors (TOH) and Christmas with the Simpsons (CWS) DVDs:
  • I don't have to switch discs -- If I wait for the upcoming season sets, I would have to take out the disc after watching one episode, and put in another disc in order to watch another episode. Having multiple episodes of TOH/CWS in one disc allows me to watch more than one episode without having to switch discs.

It appears as though the content of the US Treehouse of Horror disc should be the same as the UK version:

Treehouse of Horror V - "The Shining", "Time and Punishment" & Nightmare Cafeteria"

Treehouse of Horror VI - "Attack of the 50 Foot eyesores", "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace" & "Homer3"

Treehouse of Horror VII - "The Thing and I", "The Genesis Tub" & "Mr Kang Goes To Washington"

Treehouse of Horror XII - "Hex & The City", "House of Whacks" & "Wiz Kids"

+ some Kang & Kudo clip featurette or something...

Well it looks like they included the ones from way, way out... I think I'm getting much more tempted than I was when I started this thread.

I'm definitely buying this. Of course I'd rather they release the seasons faster...who wouldn't? But I'll take any Simpsons on DVD, and this'll be great for Halloween.

The local networks always air most of the Treehouse episodes around Halloween. If I really want to see them around their "season", I have my options. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the season sets.

Does someone have a street date for the Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors disc? Also any word on what it will sell for when it first comes out? Any solid responses would be appreciated.

Amazon.com lists the street date as 9/2 and Deepdiscount is selling it for $10.33

As already reported, it will street this Tuesday. (9/2).

If you have a Best Buy in your area, they are advertising the sale price at a cool $9.99.

I basically buy anything with The Simpsons on it, so this is a no-brainer. The only TV series I'd double dip for, though.

How blatantly stupid of FOX......

I want and should already have season 4 if not season 5 of the simpsons in my house. .......I don't!!!!!! ...And FOX is out there making a DVD with simpsons episodes that will be arriving in the season sets....... They could have completed a disc of season 4 in that time.... FOX, quit wasting your time by releasing shows that just came out like one month ago and start cranking out the classics.....

I didn't like the picture quality of this DVD. Looked like they never went back to the source materials and digitally mastered them.

The picture quality is okay, but not as great as in the season sets.

I just bought it today, and it was only $9.99 at Best Buy. I bought it because it is a filler for me between the year long release of the Simpsons season sets. Besides its fun to watch in the spirit of the upcoming Halloween season. The picture quality does suck though, I am sure we will see better once there are more season sets.
