Great news!!! According to davisdvd.com, Criterion has officially announced the following DVDs on November 11th:

*NAKED LUNCH....
David Cronenberg's deliciously twisted adaptation of William S. Burroughs' hallucinatory novel Naked Lunch. Dive into the Interzone with a brand new 1.85:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital audio tracks. Extras will include an audio commentary by Cronenberg and actor Peter Weller, special effects and production stills galleries, examples of the marketing campaign for Naked Lunch (including a featurette, B-roll montage, TV spots, and theatrical trailer), and excerpts from the novel read by author William S. Burroughs. Retail is $39.95.


*La Strada....
Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film in 1956 and the film that launched director Federico Fellini's career. The disc will feature a new high-definition fullscreen transfer with restored Italian mono soundtrack and an optional English-dubbed soundtrack featuring the voices of Anthony Quinn and Richard Basehart. Extras include a new video introduction by Martin Scorsese, an audio commentary with author Peter Bondanella (The Cinema of Federico Fellini), the Italian documentary "Federico Fellini's Autobiography," a new essay by film scholar Peter Matthews, and the original theatrical trailer. Retail is $39.95.

Pretty great news, huh?! I just checked the criterionco.com website. So far, only La Strada has been updated. But I'm sure they will be soon.

I'm pretty excited for the Naked Lunch: Criterion DVD. My god, I've been waiting for it for a long time! I can't wait to watch it again.
