Do you store your Criterions by spine #?

The way I have my DVD collection right now:

Keepcases together alphabetized
Fat Keepcases together alphabetized
Digipacks together alphabetized
Box sets together alphabetized
Snappers together alphabetized
Tins together alphabetized

I'm wondering If I should put all my Criterions (currently have 16) together on the shelf in order of spine number. Or should I wait until I have more before I do this? How do you store your Criterions?

No. My Criterions (all 100 or so) are treated like all my other DVDs--filed by Director, then Year.

All my Criterions... some 140 spine #s.... are shelved by themselves on their own shelf by spine number while the other DVDs are in a separate shelving system alphabetically... Yes I know its hard to find certain Criterion movies at times but the Spine #s are how I like to stock them...

I store them together and by spine #. I have all of them and it takes up a fair amount of shelf space...
The rest I organize by genre (silent, action, suspense, classic, western, sci-fi, drama, etc)

My DVDs are stored completely randomly. Why? Because it'd be a pain in the ass to have to rearrange the whole damn thing every time I buy something like 'Billy Jack'.

I don't really distinguish them. I organize my collection with in some broad genres. Box sets all stay together on the top rows of my big shelfs. I keep my foreign films together and organized by spoken language and then director if I own multiple films by one person. I keep most of my English language "classsics" together too. Those two distinctions are mainly for the benefit of guests. Too many people will not watch old or even worse, an old foreign film. With my organization I can say "Those are all foreign.". If that bothers them, I don't have to answer any other questions. If they are interested (which is too rare) I can elaborate. The rest of my movies are in broad genres of comedy, action, music/musical, crime, drama etc.

Yeah, together and by spine #. Same with the Fox Studio Classics.

The closest thing I have to a filing system is my Criterions in numerical order. It's a useful place to keep the DVDs people can't borrow (especially not my Dead Ringers!)

Yes, I organize them according to their spine, esp since my entire colection is organized by production company.

I also keep Criterions on a separate shelf, but I organize them alphabetically.

Yeah, I store the Criterions by spine #.

Everything else is stored first by movies and their sequels (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection; Halloween 1-8; etc), then by director (Leon and the Fifth Element are next to each other as are Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein), then by genre (horror, comedy, action, etc.).

I don't separate my Criterion Collections from my other collections, which are mostly in alphabetical order.

When I get another Criterion disc (I only have Chasing Amy), I will organize them by number.

If you've only got one, I think your Criterion collection is already organized by the spine number. :p

I organize my collection by alphabetical order. Multi-disc sets
are in one area on my shelves, then all of my single disc films,
then TV series, then concert/ music videos. I have only 5
Criterion titles (Chasing Amy, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas,
Great Expectations, The Silence Of The Lambs and Traffic)
so they just fall into the alphabet.

I treat all the DVD's in my collection the same, so Criterion gets no special treatment (though they usually release superior product). It's all alphabetical, so my twelve or so Criterions are spread throughout the collection based on their titles. For example, by Brackhage is far far away from Robocop. The collection totals about 215 individual titles (sets counting as ONE item).

Honestly, it's just a "DVD" collection, insomuch as I have all my films (both snapper, keepcase, double case, special packaging) together with the smaller TV sets (Bab 5, 24, Family Guy) and non-film related items. I only have two big sets at this point, The Stanely Kubrick Collection and The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus, and out of practicality (they're damn large) I have those at the bottom of my collection in their own area. They are the only ones that get their own area.

Honestly I have such a small collection it doesn't really matter where mine go but I put them in categories: Sundance, blockbusters, classics, animation, sci-fi, etc. The Criterions are placed into the section they belong.

If I ever feel the need to shuffle things around, I think I would go by studio.
