It's listed in this week's Target Ad for $19.99, so it looks like the Sept. 2 date is correct.

With Labor Day tomorrow, I hope stores here in Canada--Future Shop, A and B Sound--have the new edition on shelves Tuesday. I thought Boyz N The Hood SE was out later in the month, but this is a nice surprise (now if I can only watch it before classes begin this week).

I thought this thread was about the urban clown classic Bozo 'n the Hood.

It's a really great DVD that should be in every collection. Of the couple of chapters I sampled the picture looks fantastic (especially after I've watched my VHS copy a dozen times). The extras are very nice especially the VERY recently made 40+ minute documentary/ look-back on the film with interviews from all the stars and filmmakers. A very nice piece.
This will definitely become one of the most watched DVDs in my collection. I look forward to watching the entire film on DVD for the first time soon, as well as the commentary from the always insightful Singleton.

Did Singleton record a new commentary for the dvd or is it the same as the Criterion laserdisc? Anyone have info on this?

How is the sound presented on the SE? One spec list I saw said DD 2.0. Wasn't the orignal DVD release Pro Logic?

Just curious.

This DVD does indeed have a Pro-Logic encoded soundtrack.
All Pro-Logic audio tracks are encoded as a 2.0 source...it's your receiver that does the "separation".
