Your Top 5 movies not on DVD?

Here are mine:

Superman: The Movie (this could honestly be the best DVD out there IF it was done correctly, there's SO much extra stuff)

Goonies (I'd LOVE a commentary track with the actors)

Indiana Jones trilogy (counts as one)

Star Wars movies (ditto)

Jaws (Spielberg should do a commentary on the movie that made his career, how great would this be?)

Heh, you're lucky though, you're picking all the movies that are scheduled.

The ones I want are;

1) The Warriors
2) Rapid Fire
3) Perfect Weapon
4) The Howling
5) Dreamscape

All in special editions, hey, I can dream. hehe. I just found out today that Dreamscape is scheduled for June and has extras galore.

2- Empire Strikes Back (I have accepted the fact that the THX Laserdisc of the original Un-Fucked up version, is the one that I will have for the rest of my life, when These films do come out on dvd, I fear that they will be the bastardized Special Editions and I would not buy those for FREE)
3- Star Wars (see above comments)
4- Manhattan (on it's way)
5- Housekeeping

From the top of my head:

Nightwatch
The Lion King
Star Wars (well, that's actually 4 movies, isn't it)
Buster
3 Caballeros

...but there are a lot more, that's for sure.

Not too surprisingly, these kinds of questions have been asked here before. Check out the following links:
http://www.dvdfile.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000628.html http://www.dvdfile.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000237.html

If I had to limit myself to 5 titles, I'd have to pick the following

1. Star Wars Trilogy+Prequels (I'm counting this as one. So sue me.)
2. The Princess Bride SE (Although it looks like this won't be SE after all.)
3. Indiana Jones Trilogy
4. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
5. Toy Story

UCFKevin, do you remember the superman documentary on abc in the mid 80s? I think it was about both the first and second superman. I wish this would be included in a superman dvd, but i doubt it will happen. The thought of a new 5.1 transfer (only if done right) makes me long for a new dvd release. The superman movies, back to the future, and indiana jones movies are all movies i would instantly buy. I can hold off on star wars since i own bootleg dvds of them with dd5.1 sound.

Yeah, it would be perfect on the DVD. I have it on tape but it's of crappy quality. I'd love to see new interviews too.

SInce alot of good titles have already been listed (including Shock Treatment TWICE!!!!) I'm going for the real way out there discs.

1. A Queen DVD with All of their music Videos From 1973-1995. Queen had a great push in the states in the early years of DVD including the release of We Will Rock You(their 1982 Concert Movie) Plus both Flash Gordon and highlander. All in the first year of DVD. Now I hate Video tape, but the Queen Greatest Flix-3 looks mighty appetizing

2. A Night at the Opera-No not the Queen album but the Marx Bros. movie. Image has realeased all of the early Marx Bros. now it's MGM's turn.

3. The Day the Earth Stood Still-Probably one of the Best Sci-Fi movies from the Fifties.

4. The tReasure of the Sierra Madre-John Huston's best film ever with a great preformance by Bogey.

5. The Shootist-Probaly (IMO) John Waynes best movie about a gunfighter that has lung cancer.

Oh and one more that will probably never be released on DVD in the near future-Frank Zappa's 200 Motels. Yeah

It would be a good, wait, great idea if FOX released "Shock Treatment" on DVD when "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is released on DVD in October.

Besides the obvious (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, Jaws) I'd have to say these:

Schindler's List
The Elephant Man
Rashomon
The Untouchables
Clash of The Titans

(Didn't mention Jurassic Park, CET3K, Braveheart, etc because they're apparently on the way... as is Superman)

- Wings of Desire
- When Night is Falling
- Until the End of the World (3 hour Japanese laserdisc version)
- Until the End of the World (5 hour directors cut)
- Until the End of the World (2 1/2 hour US edit)

And Bugg - Housekeeping was a good suggestion. Good film from the director of Local Hero.

Bugg: the Special Editions are far superior to the now outdated originals. The movies are just far better as Special Editions. The scenes in Empire look much better, and no longer look so closed. The cloud city scenes are just wonderful, a MAJOR improvement. A New Hope, however, gains the most from it. It really looks like a new movie, which is just fantastic. I hope they keep redoing all of the movies to make SLIGHT changes if new technology becomes available. I am sure Lucas will change them one more time (because some technical flaws still exist). The Special Editions are the only way to go, I would NEVER buy a DVD of the originals even for free. If there were only DVD's of the originals and not the Special Editions, I would sooner not buy them at all and just use my SE Laserdiscs. Bah, the remake just improves all of them so much. You are greatly mistaken.

My only DVD request is all 4 SW movies on DVD, and also I really want to see Braveheart on DVD...

JohnathanB,

Once again, I have to disagree with you. I only have one thing to say, tho, about the SE's
HAN FIRED FIRST!

Sorry, but that whole scene ruined the whole SE for me. I didn't get a chance to se the SE in the theater, and bought the laserdisc box set because it was cool I enjoyed it untill that sceene, and the way it changed his character just made me want to cry. some of the other "enhancements" *cough*Jabba*cough* are probably the "technicalities" you refer to. That I think I can excuse.
IMHO

BTW, I have both the THX enhanced and the SE on LD. I also (hopefully) will have TPM LD this week

But on the topic I'll add
1) Say Anything
2) Uncomon Valor
3) Star Blazers
(you thought I was gonna say it, huh)
4) ET
5) The Martian(sp?) Cronicals

Soul, a reason that you can't find UHF on VHS is that it's OOP. You can find it to rent and to buy on eBay for like $40, or you can mail MGM over and over again untill they release it .
