Any reviews of the Babe SE yet?
Im just wondering if the making-of featurette is just an old, rehashed EPK, or if the interview material is all-new. Plus, I'd like to know how good the anamorphic transfer and DTS soundtrack are. Any reviews out there?

I got my Babe 2pk in the mail from DeepDiscount this morning. When I watch it, I'll post my notes... unless someone beats me to it.

I watched the "making of" last night and about the first 1/3 of the movie. Pretty let down with the making of. It was very short and focused only on the process of getting the animals to "talk." The picture was very nice in my non-professional opinion, using JVC S-402 player and a 36" D-Series JVC tv. Didn't fire up the stereo yet to check out the DTS, not have I checked out the George Miller commentary. Sorry it's not a more in-depth review...

your opinion/review of the makingof helps me - I'm most interested in the extras on this SE.
My son has started watching the movie on VHS, and maybe I'm crazy, but I figure a Special Edition should have special extras on it that are good, not just the film. ![]()

I picked it up just because it is widescreen. The bonus features are just icing on the cake.

So, is there a single review of this disc anywhere? Come on, DVDFile, you'll review fucking Casper, but not a Best Picture nominee?

quick review
I've seen it and the picture looks good, but I doubt it's much better then the last dvd (now out of print). If you don't own have the old one this is well worth buying, but if your buying it just for the extras I wouldn't bother. It seems like they would have reviewed scarface by now also.

Well, I picked up the Babe two-pack today, and the picture transfer and DTS track on the original are both great (now I can finally retire my rapidly disintigrating laserdisc copy). But you call this a "special edition"?!? A dull, Tim Burton-esque "describe what's happening on-screen" commentary by George Miller (where was director Chris Noonan?) plus a moldly 4-minute EPK from 1995 on the CGI mouth replacements for the animals and a new, six-minute "interview" with Miller, wherein he rehashes anecdotes from the commentary!
Not even an insert or any trailers. And where was the DTS track that was originally anounced for Pig In The City? Even the box both discs came in sucks, just replicating the cover art of the first film (at least the box for the El Mariachi/Desperado two-pack had some cool artwork). What a botched opportunity. While I'm glad that we finally have a widescreen anamorphic version of the original, it's still a letdown.
